They're in too much of a hurry to get the 2 pts. for answering. Most of them know they won't get Best Answer anyway. Some are just too lazy to look up a spelling or don't even read the check spelling box listed above their answer. This seems to happen most frequently with kids. I don't think they're given enough essay questions on tests or for homework where they would be responsible for their spelling.
You're right about the medical questions. I think that people wait until after hours before deciding they need medical advice. They may not think it's serious and don't want to bother the doctor. Or they're scared and want reassurance. What's scary are the questions in the mental health category where people describe pills and want to know what they are, want side effects or how long before a medication works, or an instant diagnosis. Maybe they don't have insurance, but it's like playing Russian Roulette with their health. I freak out when someone who has absolutely no personal knowledge of a mental disorder uses wikipedia as a source. Anyone can write on that thing--it doesn't guarantee accuracy.

I'm so glad you asked this question. I have wondered myself whether some are being, "cute", or too lazy to complete a sentence correctly, or maybe it's the younger sets' new mind set to be part of a special group. Like it's 'cool' to not have to write correctly. I had a friend from England loose interest in staying in YA due to the people who did not know how to spell, as he put it. He felt there was an uneducated 'lot' who just didn't care to bother writing correctly. I think he's right. So you feel like you are answering little kids half the time. It's bad enough, that many questions reflect a childs mentality. So one can only assume they are kids. Right?

You are correct in both observations.
Spell check is not a new invention, nor difficult to use. I think people misspell for two reasons; 1) it is how they text message and they think it's "cool," and 2) they didn't pay attention in English class.
As far as the doctor question, many people are scared of the doctor either due to fear of what the doctor may say or fear of the bill they will have to pay. My usual response is for them to see a doctor. I have noticed this is a common response.

I am very anal about spelling words correctly. But an English professor once told me that spelling words properly is mostly genetic. You're either born a good speller or you're not. However, I find that good spelling requires an eye for detail and it usually involves being careful about how one types or writes. However, maybe the folks who believe that good spelling is genetic have a point.

Yes, I understand your question. When people are in distress and in pain, the last thing on their painful mind and body is spelling. Sometimes people don't have an outlet for information, except on this site, they are distressed, they may not have insurance, they may not have transportation, and they are in absolute distress. I agree with you so much that they should ask a doctor...they may have more problems than we know, bless their hearts. The best we can do is to search the web and see if we can help them find direction for their problems. The web is not a solution, but maybe we can help them find direction. Take care, help anyone you can, please don't judge one's that need direction. I completely understand your concern. Maybe you can send these "askers" to a great site for inspiration. Take care, bless you.

They cannot spell because they are spending far too much time on their computers and Play Stations. More of their time needs to be dedicated to schoolwork! Teachers also must assign more homework.

I can't stand all the incorrect spellings. One I've noticed quite a bit is pregnate instead of pregnant. It's sad, really.

They are called "Americans." One of the few populations who don't even understand their own native language.
Pathetic.
