i think music is pointless....who agrees?

i mean, whats the point of it? the way i see it, it's for mere enjoyment purposes and nothing else. kinda boring if you ask me.

well, i think anything that can evoke such emotion, ...memories, and such, from people can't possibly be pointless.
music, for one thing, helps you to remember the times of your life.....how many times have you heard a song and said "oh, i remember that song - i was ......................when that came out".....and then you are reliving old memories you might not have thought of that day,...and all the feelings of youth you had then as well.
at least that's how it is for me.

O.K you think music is pointless and only for enjoyment purposes but you are on Yahoo Answers submitting dumb a$$ questions like this. How can music be pointless when it provides so much inspiration for so many individuals. Look at the benefit song that U2 and Green Day released to benefit the victims of Hurricane Katrina. Music can change a generation. Look at the Beatles influence on culture. Look at how Nirvana completely changed the whole hare metal faze of the 80's and brought grunge into the 90's. I think that music is WONDERFUL. It make you think and expand your mind. Its a wonderful art that takes a lot of talent.

Well you see, its just about perspective, fishingforhope. Some people love music and some people dont feel anything for it, so they dont understand why there´s such a fuss being made about it by so many other people. But the same goes for movies, books, art, poetry...and anything else really, cuz its all about personal preference. I personally love music myself, it makes me feel better than anything else in the world but i can totally understand and respect your perspective and why you dont feel the same way about music. Everyone´s entitled to their own opinion.

That's sad, because music gives me endless hours of enjoyment. I have classical music playing in the background right now, and it is not wasting my time while I am wasting my time on Yahoo Answers, LOL.

Way back in history music had the purpose of telling stories and idolizing heros and passing on information...now it is just for entertainment. I still enjoy it though but dont really go out of my way to hear it.

yeah, I used to think that way. I do like music... but for some people it is pointless and some people it is their life; especially if they play an instrument

I would have to disagree. I love music. It is a way of expressing your thougths and feelings. Music is my life and I really think that this world would be in black and white color with no music.

music is my passion. music makes me tick.
I have to have it, couldn't live with out it.
Music is my life, my world.
And I'm a stagehand so It's my job.

it can be a form of release for when your angry..the music can help you "get it out"
It can help you express feelings of love, happiness, almost every emotion can be expressed thru music.
Some look at it as a form of expression, or art.
It can been seen and heard in so many ways.
Soulful, lyrical, instrumental...ect.
Open your mind....
