shouldn't you be happy that the new generation of white kids knows how to appreciate their black brothers? Listening to "black" music and empathising with them is their way of accepting them. It is actually a good thing. I think there's a good reason why these kids are ashamed of their culture--slavery, KKK, etc. THat's why they get offended with racist jokes even if they're not black. But I suppose what you mean is why aren't they learning about their European history and traditions. Simple: they're now Americans. They should be proud of being American and being American includes appreciating Black culture.

It's because of all the bad press and potential backfire for saying what they believe, a "reverse racism" compared to what it used to be.
People are more likely to be hired as Police Officers in many cities if they are of a minority, simply because the force does not want to appear racist. Some businesses have quotas for minority employees, even if that employee is less qualifed for a job.
Take, for example, what Micheal Richards did. Yeah, you know what, he was absolutely racist in what he said, and I don't agree with it. However, what if Dave Chappelle had gotten up there and said the exact same thing in the middle of his routine? Would he have gotten the same reaction? Of course not, because minorities can't get in trouble for saying racist things, because apparently it's funny.
I'm far from racist, and you know what, I find racial humour funny (we all have to be able to laugh at ourselves).
In response to your question, white's are not "ashamed" of their culture, whichever culture it may be, but the problem is that if they try to promote it in the same way that minorities can do, they are considered bigots. What if my ancestors were slavers and I made jokes about slavery? Bam, I'm a racist. What if your black ancestors were slaves, and you made jokes that were directed at the slavers? Nope, it's ok. And don't give me "they suffered" stuff; yes, they suffered, and we know it, and I feel brutal about it, but that doesn't mean YOU can be racist FOR them.
So there it is; white's aren't ashamed, we just know that if we try to flaunt it, then we're probably gonna get labelled poorly for it.

What I don't understand is why so many Americans are so focused on their ancestors previous continent of origen. African-American, Asian-American, Irish-American . . etc. Divided we can not stand!
I for one am very proud of my AMERICAN heritage and culture. Hip/Hop music, R and B, and Rock & Roll are American styles of music and often have a fusion of African beats, European instramentals, and modern day technology. It's a beautiful thing!
And could you imagine if everyone is this country was speaking their ancestors original languages. What a mess!
The rebel flag is a symbol of Oppression and Racism to many people, as well as a symbol of a civil war which is LONG PAST now. There is other ways to show you appreciate that you are a southerner. Drink some sweet tea.

I never knew there was a language of talking black. People need to wake up. Most black people are not the ignorant uneducated people that you see on TV. And not everyone has to be from the ghetto. The rebel flag came of the life blood of black people. Maybe cause white people were to lazy to pick their own cotton fields. Nothing wrong with teaching a person about their heritage. But it OK to rob a race of theirs. If you want a history lesson make sure you tell it all. Nobody should be ashamed of their culture but don't make comments about another that you know NOTHING about.

my children's culture is American. They will learn proper English and learn about American culture. They do know a bit of family geneology of course and a small amt. of that culture, but all in all they are American.
As for the speaking Ebonics, I don't care what color you are, that is just ignorant. My children will spend a lot of time with soap in their mouth for that one!!! They will not be wearing any clothing that represents any type of segregation among the parties. Or that could easily offend the typically non offendable.

-Nothings wrong with dressing and talking like black people... not that all black people dress and talk the same.
-Ebonics is a dialect of english and not that crazy for others to pick up on.
-nothings wrong with "ghetto black music"- its just a type of music.
-HAHA... malcom X represented power to a peoples who where/are on the lowest rung of society. The confederates wanted to recede from the union in order to maintain slavery which was the backbone of thier doomed economy. Damnit.... pay attention in your high school history class.
-BLACKS ARE A PART OF THIS COUNTRY. THEY HELPED BUILD IT. THEY ARE HUGE PART OF THE CULTURE. DEAL WITH IT!
-The forefathers of this country are only that. Not the forefathers specifically for american whites.
you are ignorant, you dont make sense, you have no world experience, and no exposure to people who are different than you. you willl have a painful, angry life because of this.

If the kids go to a public school, they learn about your history. The truth is they are ashamed of being associated with you. Distancing themselves from the retard racist revolution, is all they have to run from. Curiosity brought them to us, your ignorant crusades keep them away. Black folks were off doing their own thing, when you children came and embraced and included them in their lives. i know this was not your plan, but generations typically are smarter than the previous one, apparently. don't get mad at us, they are your kids, which proves the point ignorance can never win.
