My husband and his wife at the time split up in 1992. He moved out of the state and she filed for a divorce. He received papers from her and signed them, had them notorized and sent them back up to her, so she could file them. After being "divorced" from her for 1 1/2 to 2 years we got married. We have been married for almost 13yrs. Now we find out that she never filed the papers. What do we do?

Dude, consult a lawyer and fast. Find out what your next move should be. Because he could be charged with bigamy. What was she thinking? Does he have a copy of what he signed after it was notarized?
Be aware that even though this is her fault he should have checked to make sure that it had gone through and that it is possible for her to make trouble for the two of you.

Man that really sucks because in the eyes of the goverment he was never officially divorced from his ex. Meaning he may be in a little bit of trouble not making sure he had finalized his other marriage before you guys got married I'm actually surprised it did not come up when you filed for the marriage license. Talk to a lawyer and get the information needed and get your hubby to question hi sex why she never
filed the paperwork. If anything it sounds like his ex was a jealous person and didn't want him to be happy with someone else so she did not fiel for the simple reason she wanted control over his happiness.

God Bless and Good Luck.

P.S. since you hubby signed the papers the only one at fault is the ex. wife for not filing when she received them back. If anything she will be the one in some crap.

You better get a lawyer because you are married to a bygamist. He is in legal trouble. You also need a lawyer because if he is still legally married to his first wife, he is responsible for all her debts. You need to get this taken care of right away before she runs up any more credit cards, buys a new car, or buys a new house using your (I mean her) husbands credit. And how did you just now find out? That would be interesting to know. Did she apply for some kind of credit using his social security number? You need some legal advice now.

its not that big of a deal.
You got married in good faith, so your marriage is most likely still valid. You need to contact an attorney in your area to have them draw up the paperwork, to get that divorce finalized. As long as he had no prior knowledge of what had happened, and if he made a copy of the signed divorce petition that will help greatly.

He should run like hell! He's having more bad luck with wives than a blind clown at a Big Bull Rodeo.

I recon after taking thirteen years of crap off a woman he wasn't even married to is like coming in last place, then jump out ya car ....... only to find out it was a "marathon".

I guess you were be hotter than pig piss when ya found out fer thirteen years all you accomplished was being a "mistress".

I hate to leave ya thinkin' we 'r just making fun about ya, but this is the funniest thing I heard since I found out "flipper" was just a gay shark.

When you get married they always ask if you ever been married before when you answer yes you need to show that you are divorce.Did he lie and say he has never been married.Your husband is at felt here not his ex I 'm afraid.I just think it's a shame that you are put in the middle of this mass.

Seek counsel. This is not the end of the world, but it is beyond easy. The lesson is to always follow up.

Depending on what state your are in you guys are probably not legally actually married. If his 1st wife really wants to than she may be able to press bigamy charges I would call an attorney as soon as possible

Wow, that's awful. I guess that means you're not "legally" married and you have to do it all over again. That really sucks. I'd consult an attorney.

I hope it all works out.
Good luck!!

I don't understand. When you applied for your marriage license, they should have made him produce a divorce decree. If he couldn't do that, they shouldn't have issued you a marriage licence.
