Yes, you can. But take into consideration that you would need to trim and raise all the doorways and cabinets to allow for the extra thickness. Making sure your existing wood floor is level with no more than 3/16" height difference in every 10 feet is also important. Sand down the high parts and fill in the low parts with a self-leveling compound which you can buy at your local hardware.

I guess you can, if the original floor is even and in good shape. Wouldn't it be better to refinish the old floor? So, I figure that the old floor isn't in the best of shape. If it's not, then you should pull it up and put in the new one. If you are using the laminate tongue an groove flooring, you can make it a floating floor, by putting down a foam underlayment and put the new floor over it.

I would still think it best to remove the old and install the new. This will keep the floor even with the other floors and look nicer. Either way, your house good luck

Yes, but instead of using floor boards, it is much quicker and easier to lay floating floor tiles on top of an existing floor. It looks much the same as floor boards.

I would not recpmmend it. I have worked miracles with old floors. If the existing floor has rot or is in bad shape it should come out. If not sand it. Adding a new floor over an old would mean you would have to raise all the doors.

Sure you can, but I don't see why you would want to, since you would be destroying the wood underneath of the new would, which could lead to some damage if you are not careful about how you do it. But then again it would be easier, but like I said I have never tried it, but I'm guessing you can.

No honey. If the old floor is not reparable, you remove the old floor and install a new one.

I LOVE hard wood floors. I just love them.

Just laid a bamboo floor over an old, yucky oak floor. As long as the floor is level should be just fine.

You could but i would not recommend it.

For one, what if the wood you have now is a lil morphed, meaning a lil crooked or lifted in one area, or dropped. The next layer will look even worse. Its better if you just remove it. Its not too hard to remove.

good luck

yes so long as everything is level, and you compensate for the extra thickness when measuring for anything that will be in the room.
