Media Hype. Blown way out of proportion. Too stupid for me to worry about. He's screwed! The team leaders need to stop talkin' bout NOT bein' "ho's", cuz they come off as being more ignorant than IMUS was! How angry would they have been if he just called them "bulldog dykes"? Probably not as much. White female atheletes have had to deal with crap like this for years & you didn't hear they complain as much about the obvious! I speak from personal experience & not for everyone, so don't go all ballistic on me for these statements.

Anyone who thinks this is issue is being taken out of proportion is truly ignorant (and I'll be white too). He's remarks show him to be an ignorant hillbilly whose idiotic rantings make one think about complete freedom of speech. He's a low life and dispicable. To make a comment so disrespectful towards a group of young women whom he's never met and never did him any harm is pathetic. How dare he even talk about trying to show dignity during this controversy. If he had dignity he would never have said what he did. Having said that he should at least resign - better yet he should be FIRED!!

I don't think the founders of this country and the Constitution had comments like this in mind when they wrote the Bill of Rights and included the Freedom Of Speech. In those days (as well as now) citizens could not speak against the established power (England) and to obey without question. Freedom of Speech is about making silent voices heard in order to make the world more fair and more representative of all who live in it. Making comments simply for the sake of causing harm or degrading another human being is not a practice to go under "Freedom of Speech" and go unquestioned. And I find it dispicable that John McCain actually said that this was no big deal. This from a man whose daughter was adopted from Bangledesh and who does not fit into Imus's standards of beauty. They should both be ashamed and keep their mouths shut.

Don Imus is a mean-spirited bully, always has been, always will be. He deserves all the backlash he's getting. He insulted those girls for no reason at all, and it's about time someone stood up to him. I don't want him to get fired. I want him to keep his job so we can see if he loses his audience. He lost me as a listener a long time ago. Just because you do charity work and you care about sick kids doesn't make you a good person.

The short version:

His show as crude and ignorant long before this latest comment. Anyone who's ever heard/watched would know. I tuned in once and never again. That was years ago.

His comments were ignorant, but not out of charachter. I'd wager the girls from Rutgers didn't hear it until the media blew it out of proportion and took it to their ears.

I've seen their pictures. None of them has particularly nappy hair, and I don't know any of them well enough to know for sure, but I'd wager they spend more time in the gym than prostituting.

Finally, I tire of the double standard in this country. This problem won't go away with stupid old white guys until black music groups and the like stop degrading their own race and women with lyrics like this and much worse.

Don Imus has always made a point of making fun of everyone in a mean way. I think this time he went too far. I think he will lose his job over his big mouth this verbal tirade.

It's going to blow over within 2 or 3 days. You have to realize that rappers and comedians are making the same racist jokes --as much as I like them -- Chris Rock's Bigger and Blacker and Lil Jon's Yeah come to mind. Don's ratings will go through the roof in the meantime.

I don't see why a group should try to stop him. We live in a capitalistic society, and if people are too outraged, his ratings will die down.

I think nothing of it. All I know is that there's no such thing as bad publicity. He and his corporate backers are going to make a fortune off of the issue in the long run. They won't be making it off of me though. I never liked his show. It's for the lowest common denominator.
