What kind of truck does your Uncle have? There are some vapor emusifiers designed to make a fine mist which when heated can slow down the combustion flame front. It ends up acting like water vapor once it has been compressed in the cylinder. With the correct water quantities and a proper mix, you can get better gas mileage and a cleaner carbon free combustion chamber, by burning H2O.

Water will mix with alcohol. He has to be using fuel with a high alcohol content or adding dry gas which contains alcohol.
But crazy uncle is the first thing that comes to mind.

is he actually putting it in the gas tank or in a water injection tank? airplanes in WW11 used water injection to obtain more horsepower due to the fact that water turns to steam in the combustion chamber and adds oxygen.

quite the contrary to what i have heard, water ang gasiline do not mix. water is too dense to get through the pick up sock (particulate screen inside the fuel tank.)

first of all.........water will not mix with gas.............but it will with ethanol.............almost all fuel,s contain up to 10% ethanol....some even higher...like the E85 fuel,s...up to 85%....you can add water.....depending on which fuel your using.......as long as you don,t over do it...........water contain,s oxygen........when broken down this can aid in combustion....but it also can be the main source of corrosion........this practice could be beneficial as long as you know exactly what your doing.....would be interesting to get a look at his combustion chamber,s .....if he ever has to tear it down.....also...what type/year vehicle does he have?......water can destroy an electric fuel pump in very little time.
