Tears are a liquid produced by the body's process of lacrimation to clean and lubricate the eyes. (Wikipedia). They are very similar in composition to the body's intercellular fluid (although they also have some special contents like lysozumes), which is essentially salt water.

they contain calcium chloride in them which creats salty taste
