I'm in a situation where I can let my campus- via the newspaper- know about some horrible things a fraternity on campus is doing, anonymously, but I could take some serious heat if they figure out it was me. I've already been threatened with rape to keep my mouth shut. My choices seem to be that I can keep other women from getting into bad situations, but put myself in danger, or I can keep my mouth shut and let whats going on continue. What would you do? What do you think I should do?

Outside of the frats, campus isn't very dangerous, and I can't prove the threats or what I know the brothers are doing. I don't have witnesses, and its my word agianst theirs. They already told me that they won't back me up if I went to the police.

Obvioulsy you feel that is going on is wrong. I think you've answered your own question.
Yes, I would do what needs to be done to stop what is going on, and protect other women. Here are a few ideas to help.
1. Document, Document, Document
2. Go the school report what you know, and your fears of retaliation oh and document
3. Go to law enforcment report what's going on as well the the threats and tell them you fear for your safety.
All these things are documenting what is happening, and your fears. So if something does happen to you they will already know who to look at.
Good luck and stay safe

It does seem like you're talking about rape. If other people are being harmed, you have a duty to expose them. You also have a duty to be sure you're not harmed. You may also find that the college may hush things up. It's a tricky situation and you will have to be very clever. Can you approach the other women? Can you organize them as a group to step forward? These guys will keep raping and think it's OK cause they're getting away with it. A group of women speaking to their parents is an interesting idea. You need to change campuses but I'd sure figure a way to take them with me. And always remember. . .they may rape you anyway. . .if they haven't already. If you decide to tell and you're all by yourself, you better contact people and lots of them at the school, go make a police report about the threat and what is being done, tell your parents. . .and I'd get a gun. Protect yourself. If they approach you and they will come in a pack, remember they are criminals and just shoot them. In Texas you have a right to defend yourself and your property now. You don't have to drag them into the house anymore. I know this sounds radical but don't let them hurt you. You are a victim-they are the criminals.

You are no longer anonymous if you're receiving rape threats. If this fraternity is putting women's safety at risk (i'm assuming this has something to do with sexual assaults) they need to be exposed. How safe is this university (or college) campus? If you know - don't you think others know too?
How important is it to you to remain at this school? Does the school have a policy on this type of behavior (I'm sure it does). You could go to the campus police - but without any evidence - its' your word againts their's. If it were me - well I guess I can't really say that. Let's just say that I would not want to continue at a school where women's safety ( and respect for women) is so poorly valued. these are not pranks, jokes or whatever these moronic fratboys wish to call it. Somehow I don't think they would be so willing to "Bend over and take it up the @#$."
So - on that note. Yes I would report it - and why stop with the campus media - make sure you report this to the DEAN of the school and then take it to the local media.
This kind of crap has got to stop.

Why the newspaper??

Here's what I would do:
First, gather up enough courage to tell someone.
Then, you need to find someone in charge who you REALLY REALLY trust and tell them about the situation. Maybe going to the police would be a good idea. BE SURE TO TELL THEM to keep this COMPLETELY anonymous. (That's why you should find someone you trust.)

Really, you should at least tell SOMEONE. If that is continuing, then more and more women are getting hurt every day. If you tell someone who is REALLY in charge, then they should be able to put a stop to the whole mess, maybe they can get this person (or group of people) behind bars? You should NEVER be threatened. It's just not right. It makes you live in fear of something, you should be able to be free and do anything you want.

I hope this helped a little anyway. ^_^

That's really a tough call. I, personally, would write the story. I think it's only fair to warn people if they are at risk of being injured. Also, if the fraternity is doing something illegal, notify the police. You should also notify them that you're being threatened. Good luck with whatever decision you make.

I think you should think carefully if it's worth the risk. Perhaps if it is so wrong that you couldn't live with it, you should talk to the police and get yourself protection. Or, you could keep a journal and expose it later when you think it's safer for you. Keep a low profile for now, for your own safety. Talk to the people you care and trust. But be careful.

Go to the police if you are worried and make sure that you have people who would vouch for you as proof of the allegations that you set forth. Something that is as serious as you're describing warrants outside assistance.
