I just got a transfer offer from my employer to move to one of four cities. No matter where I go, I will be paid the same gross income ($75,000/year).
Here's what I know about the following places, since I've actually been to all four on business trips:
-Austin: Since it's TX, no state and local income taxes. Property taxes are through the roof. Gorgeous city, great parks, almost non-stop nightlife, probably the friendliest and most laid-back of the four cities.
-Louisville: Olmstead parks, reasonable cost of living. City is becoming more "hollowed" and ghetto. Nice countryside. I found the people to be very rude, closed, and impolite. However, it has a big bang for the buck.
-Cincinnati: Ditto w/ Louisville. But, I LOVE Eden Park and Jungle Jim's!
-Greensboro: High taxes, cost of living, everything! But very close to the Smokies and Shenendoahs.
Currently live in Houston. Age 28, single, no girlfriend, love live music, friendly and outgoing!
Thanks in advance!

I should also point out that I lived in Louisville (actually, Hillview) for eight weeks. Hillview was tolerable at best, but I couldn't stand Louisville--because of the people. But, again, a nice apt. in a decent neighborhood still runs $450/mo.

I, personally, would go to whichever one is farthest east.

All pretty much have the same kind of climate... all seasons including snow. I just happen to luv Columbus, Oh but Cincinnati has alot to offer. Now Texas is my fav night life. But if property tax is that high then the other cities might be tit for tat. I have to agree Ky was not friendly, rude is pretty accurate. Just been there Sept & Dec... yuck!
Pick where u feel u will be the happiest, will have the most opportunity for adventure and enjoying life daily. All can be great to get connections via airports to exotic places. I love the Carolina's because of the people but Greensboro is not the most friendliest place though location is great!
I'd pick the city with the most opportunities for advancement career wise & where u have things, places & events that put u in touch with others ur age!
Good luck on your future ^ move!

Go to Cincinnati. I HATE Kentucky (in response to the answerer above me). Kentuckians just have an inferiority complex, due to the lack of inbreeding in Ohio, which quickly changes when you head south of the Ohio river. Austin is an OK city, and would be my #2 choice, followed by Greensboro. Louisville would be last on that chart. Eden Park and Jungle Jims are both great in Cincy- so are Skyline Chili, Graeters Ice Cream, and all of the tons of things to do, like Kings Island, The Beach, Great Wolf Lodge, the casino's just on the Indiana side of the river, etc. The winters can be kinda cold, but not nearly as bad as they are from Columbus on North. Cincy is an overall nice town, and you can get a pretty decent place for the $$ here. Taxes are moderate, in my opinion. Cincy also has some pretty good music type scenes, which is helped with having both University of Cincinnati and Xavier Universities within the City, and Miami University just a short hop outside of the city as well. Check out Mount Adams and Newport on the Levee (on the dreaded Kentucky side of the river) sometime too.

I'm partial to KY. Once you get out of the city, the people will be alot more friendly. I don't know much about Greensboro, but I HATE Cincinnati. But if you are already in TX, then Austin would be a much easier move. Good luck

I'd skip Louisville-- not a nice bunch of people....
Austin is laid back, but it is growing TOO much-- the music scene isn't what it used to be, and the weather can be atrocious....
Cincinnati-- maybe a little too big.... too cold
Probably NC would be the best choice- even though it costs more, you would have the scenery....

AUSTIN AUSTIN AUSTIN AUSTIN AUSTIN---lot's to do and see
stay away from North Carolina, their laws are funky..(I kid you not).
Cincinnati is ok...you're not far from a lot of tourist attractions.
Louisville has nice countryside...but why move there when you can move to Cincinnati?
Bottom line...STAY IN TEXAS

Austin, TX for sure. The other cities are complete shitholes...and even though TX is south, KY is way more "southern" if ya know what I mean. Austin is a beautiful city and has soo many fun things to do.

Hey, Move to NC and date me!!!
I need to find someone who is "Age 28, single, no girlfriend, love live music, friendly and outgoing!"
We need more quality men here!
If you make 75G you will have NO problem living in Greensboro. Housing is cheap considering other areas of the country.

i would pick Austin ( simply because you're in texas now and it's closer than the others to your current loved ones and what you're familiar with) and behind that Greensboro. I wouldn't even consider Louisville or Cincinnatti
