My 2 year old does the same thing...but when she does i just lift her up gently stroke her hair , kiss her cheeks and tell her with a pleasant face that talking back to mommy is not nice and that shes not being a big girl when she does that...it work for me because i always tells her shes a good and big girl and she loves the praises, so if i tell her otherwise she realizes shes being rude and therefore stop.

I would smile, kiss him or her and think of how it will be 10 or 12 years from now. Enjoy it while it last.

a two year old is only going to repeat what she hears...and that includes...tone, and words....If you snap at her or raise your voice...she is going to see this as normal. If you are quiet and calmer, that is how she'll act.
