Weren't they going to change Washington if elected ?

I knew it was all rhetoric for votes but can't they atleast try to to keep us voters in the blissful dark for a while?

Before attacking me verbally , it may shock you to know I was a democrat for over 20 years before going independent.

All I see is a waste of the taxpayer's time with pointless attempted bills, and a horrible disgrace with the attempted war funding bill with congress christmas tree and gift shop funding attached. disgraceful!

Well, they've had a small majority for less than 100 days. They've passed several bills. They got republican help with the most recently passed bill (The Supplemental Spending Budget for Iraq).

Congress' approval rating is up 15% since the Democrats have been in the majority. The have a higher approval rating than the President. Change doesn't just happen overnight. They've pleased the majority of the American people by presenting a bill that has a time table for withdrawl. They have tried to bring accountability to the government in some way because we've been hearing a lot of "mistakes were made" lately.

I think we should give them time. And we should all be otimistic. We have an elected government in place and we should all learn to work together.

Hey man the GOP has been throwing offers across the table sicne Obama's election but you kind of hit the nail on the head compromise in the eyes of the Democrats is complete and unconditional surrender.

All the American voters will be watching to see who votes on which side of the stem cell research bills now. A compromise has been offered and political grandstanding will not get research the dollars a compromise will. We will see who that is in office really is willing to be bi-partisan on this issue. If they pass S-5 there will be no new money and they know it.

And the past 6 years have been the most successful, happy and wonderful times in the history of the US? Come off it.

You contradict yourself.
You cannot be 'attacked' verbally because you 'used to be' a Democrat, but now you are independent? Wow!

The Dems cannot do much with the slim majority they have.
You say you used to be a Democrat; maybe their majority would have been more 'effective' if you and people like you hadn't changed sides?
You want your cake, and eat it?
Enjoy the 'fence-sitting' and complaining (whining?).

They will do anything in their power to increase the great divide between the parties, they will fan the flames of class warfare and will endanger the economic future of this country by increasing taxes. They are worse than the alternative and will prove that over the next several years.

an enlightened one you are.

Bring some more people here to give calico (above me) a thumbs up. They really said it for me.

The reason the slim majority dem congress has gotten anything through is that republicans are more willing to work in a manner more befitting the outcome. When the majority is reversed, the dems pout and will only agree to anything that benifits them and their grab for more power. To hell with those affected.

The democratic party is a patchwork of dissimilar single issue groups. It is very difficult to keep it from falling apart other than to pander and lie to them. Think about it. Do you think union members like the Teamsters are for gay marriage? Do you think black parents and the teachers union are on the same side of the school vouchers issue?

Seriously I hope they finally do get their democratic president so they can see how its really no different. They'll still trash George W Bush on a daily basis because it makes them popular. Hopefully, it'll blow up in their faces but even if it goes exactly the way they want, even better. Whatever I'm just sick of hippies and dirt people like that Cindy Sheehan yelling at me about how we're "mucking" around in everyones business. I swear I wanna slap the hell outta these people.

Guess you are a expert on the Democrat rhetoric for votes. At least you made a change, to better yourself.

Yes, that was the funniest 6 years of my life!
Personal attacks, are the only way a Liberal fights. They certainly don't fight in the USA military.
I guess they personally attack any opposition, to make themselves feel better about themselves, since it is impossible for them to feel good using the truth. People attack others personally, when they have nothing left to say to defend their cause. It's a tactic used to change the subject, so their opposition will be on the defense, instead of them. Typical humanism, I guess. It's just that the Libs do it all the time! Rather, strange, that.
