It won't do you much good while you have the diarrhea. But, do use it afterwards to replace the friendly bacteria lost from the diarrhea.
If you want to know more about acidophilus do a web search on "benefits of acidophilus" and read through the listed sites.

Acidophilus id used to add agreeable flora to your digestive system, and control the growth of excessive yeast in your system. For diarrhea, this may sound silly, but get yourself some Pedialite. It will help you immediately, and then make sure that you get plenty of water.

If your diarrhea is due to antibiotic use, acidophilus will help to correct the bacterial imbalances caused by the drug.
Some strains of traveler's diarrhea may be weakened by acidophilus, perhaps because the immune-boosting effects of probiotics help to reduce intestinal Inflammation.

Yes.
Acidophilus is found in yogurt that specifies "live" or "active" cultures. Take on an empty stomach, & keep refrigerated.
You could also buy kefir in refrigerated health foods.
Or, eat a banana. Bananas bind you up, & so does cheese.
