If you're going to be writing an essay analyzing Odysseus's character, then try finding quotes or pieces of evidence from your story to corroborate your claims that he's a clever fighter, an outstanding leader, a fearless/cautious/sneaky person, etc. Also focus on the whys. Like, why is Odysseus ______? How does his background and his relationships with other characters influence his behavior? And most importantly, why is this important? Why has Homer written Odysseus the way he did? What values does Odysseus have that were seen has important in Greek culture? Does Odysseus's story explain anything about Greek culture? Remember that ancient literature usually ties into a society's political, social, religious, and cultural beliefs.

Cool book that is. Well he is brave, determined, clever, and loyal to his family and friends. His weaknesses can be that he's easy to trick (Calypso's Island S/p) and that he gets really mad really fast. He is also forgetful because he didn't thank Poseidon for helping the Greeks win the war. That's why he's floating around anyway. He's a hero because he never gave up and stayed loyal to his wife even though he could have gave up. He also shows compassion when he cries at the blind guy's song (his name starts with a D) while he was with some Kings and Queens. I hope I helped in some way. I had to do the same thing in IB English II. Sorry for the horrible spelling too. lol

You didn't say if it had to be from another website. So here you go.

Odysseus has the defining character traits of a Homeric leader: strength, courage, nobility, a thirst for glory, and confidence in his authority. His most distinguishing trait, however, is his sharp intellect. Odysseus’s quick thinking helps him out of some very tough situations, as when he escapes from the cave of the Cyclops in Book 9, or when he hides his slaughter of the suitors by having his minstrel strike up a wedding tune in Book 23. He is also a convincing, articulate speaker and can win over or manipulate his audience with ease. When he first addresses Nausicaa on the island of Scheria, for example, his suave, comforting approach quickly wins her trust.

He is a clever politician too, he helped in the negotiations between Troy and Greece during the beginning of the Iliad. He's most known for his mind, but he was a skilled warrior as well. His stunt with the 12 axe heads and the bending of the bow is a testament to his strength and skill.

Odysseus is strong and cares about his crew. But, his weakness is falling in love. After all, he did stay with Calypso for seven years before he finally went home. And also he stayed with Circe for one year before continuing his "Odyssey."

Strengths ---> great warrior, great strength, very cunning, learns prudence and caution (a fault of many tragic heroes of myth), his fidelity & faith in his wife Penelope, his love for his family (driving force for him to continue the journey), respect for the gods

Weaknesses ---> In beginning shoot mouth off (learns to curb this), he's 100% mortal (unlike the demi-god heroes such a Achilles, Jason, and Heracles), inhibitlity to fully disclose info to his crew (as with the wind in the bag)

It bothers me when I see people on here asking blatantly for answers to homework. Computers do not replace brains. Thousands of people who may have some insight on a subject do not replace the insight you are supposed to have gained from reading it yourself. If I were a teacher and caught one of my students on here doing that, I would make them read the book over again and answer the questions in front of me with no computer in sight.
