The current tax code is a drag on our economy and blatantly unfair. It is simply a political tool that has been created that divides us and forms voting blocks for certain politicians.

A fixed income tax rate that is applied to all Americans or a national sales tax should be implemented.

I think ALL Americans should pay taxes. The current federal tax system eliminates over 40% of Americans from paying any tax. The top 20% of Americans pay about 80% of the taxes. This system is simply ridiculous.

Even with a flat tax the people that make more will pay more.

At 10% someone earning $30,000 a year would pay $3,000.

At 10% someone earning $100,000 a year would pay $10,000.

The rate should not exceed 10% at the federal level if using an income tax. I have not done much research on what a sales tax rate would have to be, I'm guessing around 5%.

You have to remember that beyond federal taxes you still have to pay all the different state & local taxes & fees.

I would prefer to abolish all income taxes and pay a sales / consumption tax. I also think that any new tax code that is setup should be extremely simply with few if any exceptions.

The entire tax code should be able to be easily understood by the average American and shouldn't take up more than a few pages of text.

It would be all too easy & tempting for politicians to turn any new tax code into simply a different version of the current one.
For this reason I think we should have a Constitutional amendment limiting taxation and the rate of growth of government.

Actually, income tax was designed in 1913, right after the Federal Reserve was established to take over the creation of money that congress is supposed to be creating. The purpose of the income tax was so that the government could pay back the interest on money that our government borrows from the Federal Reserve, When it is actually our government who is supposed to be printing and minting money. Research the History of the Federal Reserve, and the income tax, and the IRS, and you will learn some surprising things. As far as the fair tax plan is concerned, I will have to do further research, but I do believe that income tax is unconstitutional , and one of the greatest frauds ever committed against the American People and I am one thousand percent against any kind of income tax *sm*

It is the only way to make sure everyone pays their fair share. If you are really poor, then you should not be making very much money, and then you will not pay very much in a flat tax. If you are very wealthy you will a large amount. It is truly fair.

It doesn't paintings! first of all, the most proper you may wish for is a renamed IRS, no longer an eliminating of the IRS. inspite of tax device we've, there'll be a favor for sequence and enforcement. Secondly, it shifts the tax burden type the better to the middle classification. in many circumstances, the middle classification spends a better share of its earnings than the wealthy. Thirdly, the Fairtax assumes each and every thing is taxed. This consists of drugs, lease, vehicles, houses....each and every thing. in case you commence eliminating particular products, than the speed ought to might want to bypass up. next, the Fairtax lies about the speed. the speed that they speaking about is 30%!!! (no longer 23%). They get the 23% by using dividing the tax by using the completed value. imagine paying 30% better for each thing that you purchase. At a 30% fee, fraud should be widely used. the completed "imbedded tax" argument that the fairtaxers recommend is ridiculous. The fairtaxers for sure don't realize accounting and taxation. finally, the Fairtax is only gross revenues impartial before the "Prebate" is authorized for. reducing a examine to each and each and every relatives to offset the tax on needs ought to rigidity the speed to up in case you needed to make it gross revenues impartial. with the aid of this "Prebate", the Fairtax ought to easily create a paperwork that ought to dwarf the scale of immediately's IRS. very few products off of the right of my head......

The consumption tax disproportionately affects the poor. A flat tax would be better.

flat tax...only fair way to do it...we are all equals then.....if you want to be a go-getter and make a hundred million, you know you will pay the same percentage as some doofus watching the simpsons who only wants to make 10,000 a year....no deductions, no loopholes...corporations pay their fair share...and the gov't has to work with what they collected the year before, and not a penny more....
