It is the safest room in the house. Is there a bathroom there? you won't like it if there isn't! They have bug spray to take care of any insects, ( the same insects that are upstairs). It will be noisy unless the flooring above it is carpeted. But almost total privacy! Great! Does it have a door to the outside? Put a deadbolt on it so you won't have any fears. Good Luck!

My daughter's bedroom was in the basement. The basement was finished and she had her own bathroom. It was good for her because it was almost like her own apartment. It was cooler in the summer, but also a bit cooler in the winter. She could hear us upstairs so she knew when we were coming downstairs. It provided her with privacy, until we had a guest stay with us .... the guest room was next to her bedroom.

I agree with wright bragade.
Cons. The walls of your basement is not as nice.
Better hope your basement does not get flooded.

depends upom your basement. is it damp? is there an outside exit in case of fire.? if there is an exit other than going up the stairs, you could make a room down there quite reasonably. if you are scared, dont do it. but==== it IS private.

dont move down there, its dark and depressing, and damp, a breeding ground for bugs. Like centipedes! I hate basements, mine is so ugly I wouldnt go down there if there was a tornado.
