No, although some Masons wished they were.

Not really. Masons have very little to do with the Knights Templar. The closest body to the Knights Templar today is the St. John's Ambulance Brigade. Bear in mind that the Knights Templar were hospital monks with swords etc.

The HQ of the Knights Templar is in London. They probably have a website somewhere.

No. Today's Knights Templars are the successors of the Templars.

The Templars' survival after 1312 is a lot of old hokum.
So is the Masons going back to the builders of solomon's temple.
The truth is that when in the 18th century, gentlemen wanted an inclusive organisation, where the commoners, nobles, Protestants and Catholics could meet on terms of equality, they found the old masons' guild rituals suited them.

Mansons origin have many versions, but 3 are most common and one of those 3 versions tell that they had roots in Templars society.

As usual, middleages brought a lot of confusion regarding facts. Genealogic trees were changed to justify theirs power. Probably they are not related, but indeed, more close to the Guilds.

But, perhaps your question is regarding not their roots, but compared at the same standard. This case, answer is no. Different pourposes, different organization, rules.

Lot's of their lore relates to the Knights, but, alas, they are NOT decendants of the Knights Templar.

No but like a lot of other secret societies their paths have crossed and some origins are shared.

I think a lot of modern day Masons would like to believe this - and would like you and me to believe it. It would give a measure of credibility to their continued existence. Freemasonry today is largely exclusive (men only), corrupt and anachronistic.
