For the third time. He'll most likely be stationed in Iraq again. This is really scary and all and to go through it again I don't know how'll I'll handle it, so I would like to know:

Does anyone else out there have a family member in the military who's been or is currently overseas.

my older brother has been over there so many times already, and he finally came back and i thought it was his researve leave but he goes back again in about 2-3 months. =[ it is very nerve wrecking, he tells my mom what's going on with him but he wont tell me because i'll blow everything out of proportion. all of my siblings (3) and I (making us 4) are very extremely close so if one thing happens to one of us we all kinda freak (at least me and my older sister do) when he was home he joked with me about his tank (hes a combat engineer) being blown up and on fire a couple of times, my face was like "WTF JOE!!!!!!!!!! what if you DIED!!!!!!!!!!!" it was horror strickened. he was stationed in badgdad. he calls every sunday after he knows we're done with church and we pass the phone around and i talk and email him online and it just seems like it was when he was stationed in the states (he's currently in texas and the family is in FL )

i think if you keep the same relationship as you did when he was in the states, then it wouldnt be so bad when he goes overseas. i still send my brother silly emails and leave messages on his myspace. it's just going to be hard when i decide to call and i get an operator telling me i have to pay 50 cents a minute.

Yes it is possibly it doesn't matter at all that he is the only son especially in today's modern technology. The military is a voluntary service it is not a draft so therefore only sons, only daughters can deploy. Siblings can be gone at the same time in the same unit, along with even fathers, mothers, and children. The only thing with it before was maybe because of last name and in yesteryears women didn't keep their maiden names. Today they can as it is voluntary to change your name.

I don't but I just wanted to say I'm so sorry that he's being deployed again. That has to be really hard on you and I hope that he comes back home soon, alive and well.

I was Army medic for 4 yrs. I went to South Korea for a year and got orders for Iraq 2 times. I just said prayers and that is all I can advise you to do. It might help to have a family gettogether before he deploys. The thing for me was prayer though. I prayed and I know my mom prayed, too.

yes he has been sitting in iraq since the fourth of jan. third deployment for him as well..when he is gone i swear i break everything in the world ...this time so far its only been the dishwasher and the air/heating unit...we have two kids..talk fairly often..got them both computers before he left so they could talk to him thru email..the youngest does..sends him pictures tells him crazy stories..they are proud of their dad though and know exactly why he is there..so they and all of us have the right to do this..and anything else that we want..and although it is scary...its ok..i knew or thought i did what it entailed when i talked him into going in 18 years ago..so it was a joint decision..but its still scary..i dont have any family so we rely on friends who support us and him 100%..i hope this helps you in some way..just pray for them everyday or whatever you believe and let them know often you love them.

I have and its no fun. All I can say is pray they pull out and come home soon. Things are bad there but not as bad as the first time in 2003-they didn't have facilities and camps set up like they do now. Hopefully he will be safe and this mess will be over soon!
