In my three experiences in Alabama, I have found it to be a nice state with beautiful scenery (gorgeous hills in the north, pine forests in the west, clean beaches in the south.) Not to mention, the best shrimp on earth, boiled peanuts, laid-back attitudes, friendly folks, and beautiful women. Plus, Birmingham has a really cool R&B and soul station, but I guess that's besides the point (lol). I love the smell of pine forests in the north and of salt in the air in the south.

I live here in a more "yankee" state (Kentucky), where people just love to poke fun at the South (yet UK is an SEC school, imagine that.) But if I were to visit or move there, I promise you I wouldn't make fun of Alabama and Southern culture. It has its own unique charm and story about it that can't be found elsewhere.

Chime in, and thanks in advance for the answers!

What else is there to say? You are EXACTLY right. I lived in a small city in northeastern Alabama for 18 years of my life, and if you love natural beauty, that's where you are going to find it. The summers are not too hot (maybe a little humid) and the winters are never to cold (it hardly ever snows).

There isn't a lot to do entertainment-wise in most places. The best places for that are Huntsville, Birmingham, Tuscaloosa (if you like football!!), and down south around Mobile and Gulf Shores. If you are into music, I highly recommend going to the Big Spring Jam (at Big Spring Park) in Huntsville. It is held the last Thurs., Fri., and Sat. in September. There always some big names performing, as well as local bands. And if you love shrimp, the Shrimp Festival at Gulf Shores in October is the place to go!!! It is the best!

And if you are looking for beautiful women, visit Albertville. :-) (That's where I'm from! He he!)

Hope this helps! Enjoy "Alabama the Beautiful!"

I agree with you about Alabama. My dad was born and raised there and I have relatives that still reside in that beautiful state. I don't live there, but the name of my street is Old Alabama Rd. I lived in the Fla. panhandle and went over the line to a place called Lake Geneva, Ala. I sure had some sweet times there in my youth. You say you live in Ky., my mom was raised there and went back late in her life to a little town in the mountains called Monticello. I visited her often and have to say that I love Ky. a lot. The people are so warm and friendly. You have lived in two states that I have enjoyed a lot. I live in Atlanta now and miss the slower paced life in Alabama. Sorry I rambled on.....have a great day!

I moved to Alabama four years ago from Indiana. I love it, and I don't ever want to leave. Although I have to drive to Georgia to buy my lottery tickets--we're not allowed to play here--I absolutely love it. As we say, in my town, War Eagle!

Humidity is a killer. Hurricanes and tornadoes can be a killer. The heat really gets to me. I believe you move to a climate that you are most comfortable.
