I have had him for six months. He lives in a 10 gallon tank with three little tetras and an Algae eater. I have tested all levels and they are all normal other than the alkalinity which seems to be on the higher side. Anyone have some insight for me? He was goldish and now dull in color and he is also a blushing Angel very rosy cheeks>

It's possible it's a nutritional problem, but this lose of color and shine can also be caused be an external parasite infestation. Watch the fish closely for any dullness on it's eyes or any hint of fuzziness anywhere on the fish. Also watch for any red spots or blotches, even very tiny ones. if any of these it present, you probably have a disease problem. What disease would depend on what signs you are seeing, so if you see any of thet feel free to drop me an email and we'll figure it out and get your fish on the right medication.

If you don't see any of those things that great! Try feeding your fish a little wider variety of foods and include things like bloodworms, brine shrimp and even a little lettuce from time to time. If it's nutritional, that should take care of it within a few weeks.

A 10 gallon is too small for an angel. A 20 high is the minimum needed, it has the height & water volume angels require. The fading color indicates stress, brought on by cramped conditions.

Is it still eating and is it innactive. If it is innactive and does eat its probably being fed bad nutrition, If its not eating it could be its bloated your ammonia is too high, Did you do a 50 percent water change or wash your gravel or something like that, Check your level of ammonia and give us more details.

Could be due to nutrition deficiency or simply old age. Try feeding food with richer nutrition, see if that helps.
