To Godly,
I really laughed aloud when I read your answer. I hope you get the most thumbs up ;-)
Wait I do not like ruling by polls, you are the front runner

To JT,
I do not believe in ruling by polls because the most popular answer may not be the best one.
I could not find the question that I asked with the criteria you stated, (I looked)

Most of the time I never choose a best answer because they are all usually stupid.

Most of the thumbs downs and at least some of the thumbs ups are there because someone likes ( or dislikes ) the side that person takes.
It often has nothing to do with if the answer made sense. or even if they really agreed with it.
Many of the thumbs downs are given reflexively to people they dont like without even checking the answer.
Ive asked a question if people do this kind of thing and people admit it.

Quite a few of the people who vote on the unresolved questions, vote for the first answer without bothering to read the question, or any other answers. Those who do this are just trying to gain points.

Personally, I pick my best answer from the ones that make more sense. What's YOUR criteria?....I noticed you even picked one who got a thumbs down over one that had eight thumbs up.

Sometimes by leaving allowing the question to go to vote, more ppl can be exposed to the question and its answers.
Best Answer chosen by Asker is just that ... the Asker's choice, not the Answerer's choice.

Because polls are only used if they support your position, if they are against it, then you pick someone who did support your position.
Just read the ones you disagree with.
I will say I have been picked best answer on questions I disagreed with, so who knows.

They pick the answer they wanted to hear in the first place - someone who agrees with them.
