Follow your dream...you will regret it if you don't. If, in the end, you decide that becoming a doctor is not for you, then you can pursue something else. But you MUST find that out for yourself. Like they say, "You'll never know unless you try." I think it's great that you have a passion...most people don't even have that! Also, if you don't already practice yoga, you should give it a try. Restorative yoga, practised regularly, helps keep you centered, focused and confident. Good luck!

I think you should not be asking others what to do with your life. Only you can truly know what you want to do and what will make you happy. If you want to be a doctor I say go for it. Nothing worth getting in life is easy. Do not be afraid - fear and anxiety are the cause for many diseases. There is no need to be afraid either you make it or you don't. If you want to be a doctor that badly I don't think you will fail - there are many ways to help people besides being a doctor. If you do have trouble grade wise you may could go into counseling or something. Don't be afraid to try all sorts of Fields that may not exactly be medical. You may find another way to help people that is full filling to you. You are only 19 - I think you got some time here - so lighten up on yourself. By the way life is full of decisions and sacrifices so get used to that idea - lol.

First of all, you've got you're whole life to decide what you want to do. People change, ambitions change, 6 mos. from now you could change your mind. In the time it would take to get a degree, you might be interested in something else.
I would say if you were truly that into being a doctor, these things wouldn't bother you and nothing would stop you. Because you wouldn't care what sacrafices you had to make. If you wanted it that bad, your concern would be helping people, you know, your patients, medicine.
What other people said or thought wouldn't stop you, because it would be very important to you. and you'd have a "I'll show you" ambition, and you'd know what , the only reason people say those things about it , is "they don't have what it takes" to be doctor, attitude, when people tell you it's not worth it, how do they know?? Have they ever done it?
You shoud want it for all the very reasons you mentioned, BECAUSE theres malpractice that goes on, and insurance. It ought to make you want to become a better doctor. Especailly nowdays.. And if you can't find any med.. jobs that make you happy, maybe you should hold off for now, because a doctors spends time in all of those same places, wherever he's needed. They have to work their way up to the top, just like in any other profession. You could get placed some where that doesn't make you happy, until you get a name for yourself.
Alot of people have ideas about what they want to be when they grow up, and change their minds later. I would say if you were unable to find any kind of med, job that actually makes you happy now, then med. school, and being a doctor might not be the answer either.
I'm just saying, that maybe you out to stick with what DOES make you happy. Try several things, at 19, there' so many choices and things to choose from, right now, the sky' the limit! What if you go all those years in college, get your degree, and end up feeling the same way you do right now ? You have to work some where all those years you're in school, right?
If being a doctor is what you were meant to be, you wouldn't have all these inhibitions about it BEFORE you even get started. Infact, what you said, sounds like something that would come from a doctor who's been doing it for years and is trying to find some way to get out of it. complaining about malpractice and insurance rates. If every person who wanted to be a doctor said that, we wouldn't have very many doctors in the world, left.
To be honest, that's not the kind of doctor I want to treat me, I want a doctor who's passion for the medical field, for learning, and caring for people out weighs all these things.Wouldn't you??
If it were me, I would just do whatever kind of does make me happy for right now, and just think about it for awhile, Maybe in 2 or 3 years, if you've truly developed a passion for becoming a doctor, and feel you've overcome these things, then go for it!! Peace & love

Why not start by taking the first steps? Go to college and see where it leads. You'll find that the process of getting an education may open up new ideas and horizons to you.
If you decide not to be a doctor, you can explore other career options in school. You may find the right career in medicine, or you may find something else that really excites you. The time you spend getting an education is never wasted.
At 19, your experience is so limited that you can't even imagine the possibilities. Keep learning and you'll find the right path.

We all had those dreams when we were a child. Some wanted to be doctors, some wanted to be policemen, some wanted to be lawyers ... and when we're in the real world, we do something else, sometimes we think of "what could have beens" if only we followed our dream.
You're still young, there are many options for you. Imagine what you want to do for the rest of your life and do everything you can to achieve that goal, no matter how many sacrifices you need to do. Be committed to what you dream of, it would be worth everything.

Don't try to carry the huge log, cut it up, take a chip or two at a time. Fix your dream into your subconscious, Accept your dream as a command from God. Then let it go and begin one step at a time, one day at a time. The mind is not for thinking, the mind is for receiving thought. Each morning ask God, What would you have me do today, dedicate each day to serving God. You can accomplish great things, but remember it is The Spirit of God within that causes all our action to bear fruit.

When I was young, I wanted to be a Police Officer. And I realised my dream as a Police Officer for 9 years plus. But I ended up quitted as it's totally different thing which I was thinking. Instead of apprehend criminal, I ended up spending more time attend to stupid complaints such as noise pollution, cat on the tree, family dispute, drunkard sleeping on the street and etc...
A lot of people don't know what they want in life, but they continuous to live on. There are also alot of people whose fulfilled what they want, but later find out reality is so much different from their dream.
That's life. Not everyone are so fortunate to do what they want and love what they are doing.

Hey Peace Love,
Go for your Dream! You could have different problems, but paying for mal-practice insurance will still leave you taking home more money than most people. But Money should not be the drive - your dream is what matters. Study harder than the one that is smarter, dig deeper than the others. Failed doctors have great options in Medical fields, failure to try at all will always be in your mind. Go for it!

Failure = Success
I implore you to fail yes we all make mistakes but at least you tried. Don't be lazy get off your butt! and go for the goal!~Live your dreams don't wait for your dreams to come to you! I am speaking from experience.. I lived my life in fear because of verbal and mental and emotional and physical abuse and i was afraid of failing but i learned that with failure follows success and at least i tried. I wanted to be a photographer and i decided to sell my car and buy a couple thousand dollar camera and just went for it and guess what.. I'm doing what photographers do.. I am going to be photographing Eileen Carey a country singer.. stop listening to others and follow your dream. And who cares if the others that feel that its a waist of their time you may not feel the same way and at least you will be doing what you want.. don't base your information on judgmental comments.. find out for yourself and go for it. your not confused.. just lacking confidence!
