My boss has asked for my career goals for my review this year. I've been at this company for 11 years, this position 4. I'm happy doing what I'm doing, and feel like I'm a "life-er" with the company. I'm not sure how to answer this without sounding like I'm lazy or boring, but I'm not really interested in "climbing the ladder". How should I respond?

Your career goal could be to become better in the job that you are already doing.

How about to revitalize training for this role? Or maybe you can become a mentor? Or you can develop a new system.

The goals don't have to be advancement related. But you can certainly find some processes that need fine tuning and after 4 years, you probably are the best person to know the strengths and weaknesses of what can be done to take your department to the next level.

nothing wrong with being happy with your current job situation. You could say i've had 11 great years here and hope to have many more, I like my work and would be happy to stay in my present position a long time.

You would like to continue to gain experience in the field you are currently in so that you may remain an asset to the company.
