Few could watch that video without feeling some nausea and discomfort.

The real pain it causes me is that I believe it demonstrates we, collectively as Americans, are not doing a very good job of raising our children.

I grew up in the 1950s. Most mothers did not work, divorce was uncommon and most kids spent most of their time socializing with other kids. We did not have computers or video games, and television was very limited compared to what it is today. After school I would usually go to a friend's house or have one or two friends over at my house. Kids would get together to play football or throw a baseball around. we were part of a community and we all cared about the entire community.

That still exists, and in some communities is still strong, but I fear it is waning. If we stop caring about other people in the community as kids, we will have more trouble caring for others as adults.
