Its a personal choice. I haven't done it through my pregnancy but my hairstylist is pregnant and her doctor didn't tell her to quit her job. Some think it seeps through the skin into the bloodstream and some say it is the fumes. I err on the side of caution, but I wouldn't be to concerned about it.

I was told by my OB that if you are going to dye your hair, it's better not to do it in the first 3 months & the last 3 months. So, that leaves open a window of the second trimester.
But I dyed my hair about 2 times before I even knew I was pregnant (I didn't like the way the color turned out), and everything is perfectly fine with the baby.
And if you do, also try to find a dye that uses natural ingredients & do it in a well ventilated area.

They say if u already have to not worry, but some people recommend u dont.
Some dyes are fumey and u really dont need to inhale those fumes. Also, your hair changes from the hormones when ur pregnant, and it may have an adverse effect. I only know of one person that it happened to though.
I chose to wait until after I have my son and then I plan to get an all day pampering. Hair, nails, massage, shopping for new clothes etc. Only 4 more weeks to go. hee hee :)
Just a little "pat on the back for a job well done" treat to myself after a long ordeal.
Good luck to u and congrats!

i was going to go to the hairdresser for a process last week and that very morning i tested positive on a pregnancy test. i cancelled my appt and went today for just a cut. The reason i did this was that many of the sites on the internet and other friends advised that it isn't a good idea to dye your hair in pregnancy as the chemicals can transfer to the baby. Some advise that it is ok to do so in the third trimester but others advise not to at all. I would say better safe than sorry but it is your choice.

Many people say it is I am not sure of the side effects though. It is good to ask the stylist of this because I heard that there are some dies that are not harmful to the baby. I read this in that parenting magazine. It said to ask the ladies at the salon they should know.

Think it's only bad because it could affect your hair colour. Most dyes will tell you on their warning label. Having said that think you should double check on the henna dyes. Not sure.Check http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/hair-dye-and-pregnancy/AN00241 hope this helps

I would not... you'd be exposed to the fumes and the chemicals sit on your scalp.

"they" say what you put on your skin is as important as what you put in your body by eating.
