Diagonal line, because the equation takes the form y=mx+b, where m is the gradient & b is the y-intercept (the point on the y-axis where the line crosses it).

Why not the other two: because a vertical line takes the form of the equation x=constant and a horizontal line takes the form y=constant*
*A constant is any real number, e.g 1, 3, 10

Diagonal

The formula for a straight line is: y = mx + b.

b is the y axis intercept, where x = 0

m is the slope of the line, and can be either positive or negative.

A positive slope value means the line angles upward, lower on the left and higher on the right. -- Like the forward slash /.

A negative slope value means the line angles downward, higher on the left and lower on the right. Like a back slash \.

For a vertical line you have only one value of x regardless of any y value. One example might be x = 6. For any value you apply for y, x is always 6.

For a horizontal line, you have one one value of y regardless of the value of x. One example might be y = 4. No matter what value you apply for x, y is always 4.
