It's one thing to offer some help, guideance, explaination and even some research, but I seriously don't understand the motivation in doing homework for a student too lazy to do their own.

Thanks for the answers ... I should have been a bit more specific -- I meant those who post direct test questions up here -- or ask people to write their thesis for them. And people do it!

I'm a teacher and a parent, and I've often asked this question myself. There are a multitude of reasons people do other people's work. Remember Tom Sawyer? He was pretty good at tricking other kids to whitewash his fence. I have a few ideas regarding this important issue:

Some parents want their kids to get A's. Some just hope their kids will just pass. Some feel guilty about not paying attention to their children. Desperate parents are tempted to do their kids' homework themselves.

Some people like to show off their physical muscles, while some like to demonstrate their intellectual prowess.

Some people want to make other people laugh so they intentionally give wrong answers to homework help questions. Then again, perhaps their answers aren't meant as jokes at all but are meant to land the student a bad grade.

Finally, there is the possibility that some people feel sorry for students and believe that by giving them the answers they are helping.

Your question may very well illuminate the current state of our society's moral health.

We don't know if they are lazy here and we give them the benefit of the doubt, Someone doing it for someone you know could be infatuated and that's how they express it. which usually just gets you crapped on. Your just a nice person and you just automatically do it. Social pressure , you want to be in that persons group.so you do it for them.
