Why did all you idiots put Sum 41 and Blink 182 when the question specifically said no fake punk bands? I just brushed over the other answers here is what I didn't see:
Here are some good punk bands.
Co ck sparrer (the origional oi band)
Gang of Four - Entertainment
Stiff Little Fingers - (the most underrated punk band of all time in my opinion everything is good but especially their first two albums Inflamable Material and Nobody's Heroes)
Buzzcoc ks
Operation Ivy
Adverts
Crass (may take a couple dozen listens to like)
Conflict
Dead Boys
Abrasive Wheels
Johnny Thunders - LAMF
Richard Hell and the Voidoids
Undertones
Television (also the first new age but still a great band)
Three great bands that made Punk possible are:
The Velvet Underground - (check out the album with Nico)
The Stooges
MC5

Bad Religon
Social Distortion
Bad Brains
early Unwritten Law

Ska:
Fishbone
MM Bostones
If you want go way back, Madness ,go beyond Our House(which was a great song until they started using it in Maxwell House ads) and try something like One Step Beyond early ska at it's finest.
