A player must be retired at least 5 years to be nominated to the Hall of Fame, I believe. Michael last played in 2003, so he'd be eligible for the Hall next year.

Alot of you people that tried to answer this question are just dumb, Jordan retired in April of 2003, so the Hall of Fame rules are that a player cannot be inducted until after 5 full seasons of their retirement, so Jordan will be eligible for next years Hall of Fame.

You are eligible for the Hall of Fame after being retired for 5 years. Then you can be voted. Jordan's career ended in 2003 after playing for the Washington Wizards, making him eligible in 2008. He'll get in then, and you'll hear all about it.

He must be retired for 5 years. His last season was in 2003 which makes him eligible after the 2008 season. The greatest of all time. It's a lock. Lata.

I see a lot of this is basketball as well in other sports. I guess after 5-10 years after a player is retired he or she will be in the hall of fame.

he would have been if he had stayed retired. you have to be out of the league a certain amount of time to be eligible for the hall of fame. but Jordan retired three times and came back twice( Bulls & Wizards).

He has to be retired for 5 years. After 5 years of not playing in the league, he will be eligabile for the Hall. He'll be in first ballot. He would be in now if it weren't for his return to the Wizards

I also think it's unfair that Michael is not yet included in the list when everybody else says he IS the greatest to play the game. Phil Jackson was named recently and he IS still active so why not Michael?!!
