I just got a betta and I have been trying to feed him HBH Betta Bites, but he has been spitting it out. Is this normal or should I try another type of food for him?

Since he's a new fish, stick with it. He needs to settle in a bit and also is probably used to eating something different and it could take him a few days to realize the pellets are food. Don't worry, he'll figure it out before long.

Yes this is normal. If your Betta is in a bowl you have to be careful not to over feed 1-2 pellets a day is plenty. He will eventually eat, he's probally just full. You can try not feeding him at all for the next 2-4 days and then see if he will eat.
Good luck!

Hi

I used to have Bettas amongs other fish and they all seem to spit their food out. Nothing to worry about, sometimes they just do this to split the food into smaller portion but sometimes they might actually not like it. Even if you have the best intention buying them special food, doesn't mean they actually like it. Don't worry they won't make themselves starve but it could be a good idea to vary their diet and buy other brand of food as they get bored with the same stuff just like we do. Good luck!!!

mine usually eats, but sometimes spits it out, its normal, and since hes a new fish, he probably isnt going to eat for the first week anyways. You can try different foods, but since hes new, dont worry to much about him not eating, they can survive months without food (even though thats not a good idea)

Dont worry mine does it all the time. Ive had him for over a year and he still does it. If they dont lik the taste of the food they will do it - or if they are not very hungry. Mine does it with flake foods all the time - he will also do it with th pellets when he is not hungry.

Whenever my betta fish ate he would spit out his food as well. I think the food is just too hard for him to swallow it whole. :)
