yep. you're right man. Imus has apologized over and over. Why all this scorn placed on a 70 year old white man when all those black comics on HBO and rap stars of all colors say FAR FAR worse and make MILLIONS of DOLLARS denigrating blacks and women. Get real people.

It was a stupid and hateful remark. but i dont think he should be fired. Al Sharpton and Jesse jackson are bigger racists than Don is. And they should keep their filthy noses out of where they dont belong. This is between Imus and the Rutgers basketball team. Imus should meet with the team and apologise. And what about Sharptons comment about the white interlopers??? or his comments about getting jewed down??? Or that Tawanna Brawley Lie he orcastrated???? Or jesse jacksons hymie town remark??? Im sick of the fact that these bigots like sharpton and his elk can say racist things and not a word is said BUT when a white man says the same....

Imus shouldn't be fired. Neither should shock-jock Howard Stern, who makes hundreds of millions of dollars from his 'irreverent' filthy, obscene debasing of women. Neither should Rush Limbaugh, whose hatred spews forth every day in the same way Hitler's propagandists spread hatred and bigotry against Jews in the 1930's. Neither should any of the Fox "News" talking heads who help further all those Republican lies and distortions. Neither should the Rev. Al Sharpton whose bias turns blacks against whites as often as he has an opportunity to make a buck.
What SHOULD happen is that all decent, respectable Americans BOYCOTT all the filth and garbage that goes over our airwaves today. -RKO- 04/10/07

As you know Don Imus has been suspended, and not fired. What we have here is known as a double standard where it is OK for one group of people who can say whatever they want to about another, while the group they are making comments about cannot say anything without reprisal. In other words, basically what you just stated in your question. There will always be a double standard in this country when it comes to certain groups of people, while they will always be allowed to say whatever they please about others, without the threat of losing their jobs,or freedom of speech. If stuff like this keeps up,we as a people will lose our right to freedom of speech as well.

you are going to do nothing just not saying the n word or any other word .by preserving its meaning you make it more hurt full when it comes up 3 days later.and white people have abused the meaning of the word for hundreds of years and now that black people don't want to hear it out of an others mouth is pretty reasonable.I'm not saying its right but black people say it in a manner in which we are comfortable with not in a racial manner like white people have done.a white person wouldn't like if i called them flour face would they ,that's why people don't like others saying bad things about people outside of their race.

So if 50 cent says it...then it's okay?

If you base what's appropriate according to today's rap music, then you have more of a problem then Imus.

What he said was not a mistake. It was callous, hurtful, and unbelivably racist. There is no excuse.

i dont think he should be fired, but he should show a bit of decency towards ALL people..im not saying that its ok for anyone to talk crap about themselves, (any race), but its just the way its spoken..

I don't agree with the double standard that exists either.
Whats good for one should be good for all regardless of race.
If you don't want to hear Ho
Then don't say Ho
And so on and so forth.

So if a black radio talkshow host said,
"Hay look at those no lip, honkey cracker ho's!" would you be affended?

People always want to say and do negative things to blacks, like its normal, and think that blacks should get used to it. If your going to say it, youll have to take responsibility, and face a conciquence.

I dont think he should be fired though. If he keeps saying things like that then sure, he should be fired. But if he publicly apologised, I think that is enough. They should also make him make a donation to the female basketball team that he insulted as well.
