First, I have to say that you should practice verbalizing the good things about yourself. It's an important skill that you will need later in life...In job interviews, for example, you will be asked what your best qualities are...as an employee, you may also be tasked with writing a self-evaluation, and being able to speak to your skills and talents will be very helpful there. Also, keep in mind that if you were simply introducing yourself to someone (which I believe that's what the article would do), you would certainly describe yourself in a positive way.
Explaining what's good about you isn't the same as being too full of yourself...Conceit is more the disregard of others' good qualities, than being aware of your own.
If I were writing about myself, I'd say that I have a great sense of humor! I love to laugh, and I love to share laughter with those around me. I would also say that I am a good nurturer...I get a lot of joy from being certain that everyone around me are being well taken care of, and have everything they need. I could also say that I'm a good mother, sister, wife and daughter, because I love deeply and truly, and show my love as often as possible.
You might write about your accomplishments in school - with different clubs, athletic teams, or your academic achievements. You might also be a good pet owner, or perhaps you're really good at Monopoly, or maybe you enjoy volunteering. One of the things that I already know about you is that you're humble...that's definitely a good quality!

Everybody has good qualities!
When you write about yours, you need to be honest, and express your achievements in as humble a way as possible without exaggeration. One needn't praise oneself sky-high, but should simply write what one has done in life that is considered to be useful or good to others, like having a helpful attitude to those around us, respecting others' privacy, not being nosy in others' affairs, having patience, being polite in dealings with others, restraining oneself in times of provocation, etc.
Of course these are just examples of some good qualities that people have to different extent.
You can also give specific examples without being a show-off.

being proud of your accomplishments doesn't necessarily mean being "full of yourself".
You're allowed to be happy about your actions and accomplishments, otherwise; why do them?
Just pick something you did that you think was successful and that you consider an achievement. If you want, it can be related to helping someone else. You might be more comfortable concentrating on others.
As for good qualities, just go for it. Think of the personality traits you have that you like and that others like/appreciate in you. It can be something vague like "smart" or "helpful" or specific like "my ability to empathize" etc.
Good luck.

That kind of thinking is your EGO at work. It doesn't matter about whether you think you're too full of yourself. Look at it as an exercise to get to know your Ego better so you can kill it later. The Ego is your worse enemy.
