You may be over reacting especially if it was said in the heat of an argument !
I wouldn't say anything this time but next time ( if there is a next time ) pull them up at the time & ask them not to call you dumb
but if it was your boyfriend (& from memory you said you were a female ) tell him how it hurt you!! but to go back to just a friend & say you hurt my feelings may cause problems so as i said wait til it happens again

No, you're definitely not over-reacting. Maybe try asking why he thinks that and reviewing his answer. Don't take anything he says as the final word- he's obviously biased.
(PS- You might want to seriously consider either talking to him about his lack of sensitivity or finding some kinder/more sensitive friends.)

Well you said he is a very close friend of yours so yes you should talk to him about it and tell him that you are hurt and try to resolve it.
I don't think you are over reacting. Nobody likes to be called dumb or anything else.

No, not at all. He's supossed to be your friend, someone you can feel comfortable in relying in. That clown still wants you to hang around? For what? To get his jollys off of you like that? Dude, drop the loser, and get yourself some real friends!!!!

I wouldn't mention it now that the occasion has gone.
But if it happens again, ask what's got into him recently. Then you can bring it up and tell him he comes across as being rude and unfriendly

that just happened to me.i took it to heart and i don't know if my "friend" really meant what she said.as lame as this might sound i told her that if she was gonna treat me like that there was no point in being friends.you could have just been having a bad day.or maybe you've heard it so many times you got sick of it.i don't think you're over reacting.it happens, unfortunately.

it almost sounds like he was trying to clue you in on what others might think that he knows isn't true.........do you say / do things that lead people to believe that you don't have it together? If it really is bothering you try talking to your friend (calmly) otherwise it will just fester and drive a wedge in your friendship.

Tell him how you feel and ask hin to explain his comment so you understand what he was trying to say. He might be able to explain it in a way that makes you feel better.

i was going to say get over it but yeah, that does seem a little over the top of what a close friend would say.
