I dont see why i cant, ive had the minnows in their own bowl for about 2 weeks, so i can see if any are sick, and none act sick, so i think it would be fine...but they could have some disease i cant see on the outside

Can i do this, i was going to put 5 minnows in with my calmer nicer male betta fish, they have a live plant and a place to hide with the betta

You don't have to worry about the betta attacking the minnows, he won't do that. Bettas are peaceful fish that only fight other male bettas. The minnows should be fairly safe to put in with the betta after 2 weeks of quarantine, but I wouldn't be concerned about the long term effects on the minnows. If you live in the US they are a cold water fish that needs much cooler water than the betta. If you keep it warm enough for the betta, the minnows suffer, if you keep it cool enough for the minnows then the beta suffers, you can't keep them both happy and healthy. So keeping them together means either the betta or the minnows will suffer for it.

Do you hear a knock at your door right now? You better get it, it's probably the Grim Reaper. He will have to be there to make sure everything goes as painlessly as possible when your little defensless minnows are transferred to their death bed.

If it doesn't happen right away, it probably won't be too long. All it's going to take is you rubbing his tank the wrong way one day, and BAM! He will unleash his pent up fury on those little guys. Hey, but if you're low on food....

P.S. That live plant won't do a thing but give your little minnows a false sense of security. If your beta can tear a guy his size to shreds, then how on earth would a plant stop him?

It really depends on the temper of your male Betta. Some are mild, and some are extremely agressive, the only way you can know for sure is if you put them in there and see what he reacts like. If he starts chasing them around, take them all out, he will chase them until he kills them. If he see's them and doesn't chase him within 10 minutes, then it should be okay, but keep a very close eye on them all day long.

If the fish are healthy, they should be fine, a calmer betta probably won't attack a fish that isn't brightly colored. They should be fine.
