I don't know how many present were around during the gas crisis of the late 70's, we have been in big trouble with respect to our oil consumption for a long time, and should have had alot more in the way of alternatives in place by now. There has been nowhere near enough research in to solar and wind power, and the hybrids they are coming out with these days are late, they should have been out here a long time ago....These alternatives should be common place in any household by now, not an anomaly, and there are many other alternatives that should be explored still lying around on the drawing board...... I don't know if it's because we are addicted to oil, or if it's that the oil companies want to keep it that way.... Exploration of alternatives to limited resources, and cleaner resources should be a government mandate, not an afterthought, and appropriate programs for such should have been in place years ago.... The gas crisis in the 70's spurred a flurry of research in to alternatives, but alot of that seemed to have been pushed to the back burner once the crisis was over. Now we are looking at another crisis, and some of the companies are finally trying to mainstream products from renewable resources like corn, but I do think it's too little too late...

I'm pretty addicted, don't know about you. We are slowly weaning our addiction, but it won't be for quite a while. There is no oil crisis now though. I've heard from experts that we have about 50 years left until it becomes as serious an issue as what some people are saying today. Back in the 1930's, people were saying that the amount of remaining oil was very low as well.

We are "addicted" to oil because it continues to profit Bush and his oil buddies. Read into the Project for a New American Century, it's basically the neoconservative agenda for taking over the world economically by use of military force. It's very real and was their actual project.

What? Addicted to oil? Nahhh....ya think, eh?
Problem is that many people either are incapable or unwilling to think past the scope of their own existence. Makes you wonder what those with children and grandchildren are thinking with regard to fossil fuels...
I once had a VERY fundie kinda guy tell me that the US would not seriously consider (or invest in) alternative energies until we'd used up all the oil we could get our dick-beaters on and used up all the coal we could mine.
I wondered if he was right...and shook my head...
God forbid we should abandon our old "cheap oil" habits and look into cleaner, sustainable alternatives.
I'm no chemist or scientist; I just know a shell game when I see one.

We will never run out, just utilize alternative methods. Once the oil companies stop making enough profit to continue lobbying against alternative energy will we see any change.

Addicted? no.
I did not know we were low.
Alternative energies being developed will eventually replace oil. In our capitalistic system when it is profitable it will happen. Who better to know when oil to run out than the oil companies, watch what they do on emerging alternative energies and INVEST. Thats how you off set the price.

ok, what one Republican says won't be able to be generalized to all Republicans. If I cared sufficient, i'm positive i ought to discover some charges from pagans and use that to assert all pagans trust such issues and also you ought to straight away brilliant me. comparable to that, i do not imagine you are able to say previous a doubt that any pagan ought to trust this-this-and-this on the topic matters. you ought to, yet i'm positive no longer each pagan does, in basic terms as no longer each Christian feels an identical way about subject matters. If a pagan ran for President and his or her perspectives on the topic matters and plans to resolve the topic matters extra heavily matched mine than the different candidate, positive, i ought to vote for that individual. notwithstanding it really is kinda stupid and very presumptuous to make blanket statements like each pagan can be a sturdy President.

Bush and his oil company cronies will be happy to keep increasing prices to the point that we will never run out...until the last dollar has been squeezed from the consumers.
