Um, no. Whoever has told you that has never lived outside of a gated community.

Hell no. Fear is a natural reaction to a dangerous situation.

Anxiety can be 'in our minds' but it is a throwback of a survival mechanism: fear.

Of course. Let's say I am not afraid of the dark, but a little kid may be. This could only mean that fear is from an inside source, not an outside source.

Fear is an emotion.
Emotions are not based on logic.
Emotions are not so much a function of mind as of hormonal secretions.
Logic can over-ride emotion.

yes, it's in our minds because once we learn facts about something enough we're not so much afraid of it then. Though some fears are very psychological

Fear is 100 % in our minds. It is a reaction that inherently protects us. If we didn't have fear, we wouldn't be alive.
