It depends on what the food is. If I drop something dry, I'll still eat it. If the food's sticky then no.

Depends on what it is and where I drop it. If it's something dry, and I drop it on the floor in my house, the 5 second rule definitely applies. If it's something wet that will pick up dirt, (like the buttered side of bread) it's got to go...
Of course if I drop it outside in the street, it's going in the trash. Unless it's like a half wrapped candy bar or something that hits on a spot where it really doesn't actually touch the ground. Stuff costs too much nowadays to waste it!!

The only time I used the dirt don't hurt rule was when I was pregnant. I had a chicken sandwhich and I dropped it. I wanted it so badly. So, I just brushed it off and chowed down.

Hey, as long as it hasn't laid there for more than 5 seconds, it's fair game. That is, if it's my floor and I'm reasonably sure about the dirt content! :)

5 second rule here
germs can harm... but exposing ourselves to some germs builds our immune system. 5 seconds is safe in my book.

Eat it , because if you don't ingest some germs , and then do, it will make you sicker. Helps your immune system become stronger.
