Ok picture this... It's monday morning. You arrive at work 20 minutes late, because you've been drunk all weekend and didn't set your alarm. You strap on your nail apron, head up to the roof and with the first swing of your hammer, you miss the nail and peel the hide off of the side of you thumb, with your brand new waffle-head hammer. It insantly turns blue and the thumb-nail is just hanging by a thread, What is your first reaction?

Okay, first I gotta know. Did this really happen to you? If so, my sympathies!! I hit my fingernail with a hammer two or three months ago, and the blue is just now growing out, but nothing like this incident.
Second, unfortunately I would probably say a not so nice word under my breath and hope that no one heard me. Then, I'm sure I would suck my thumb just like a little baby.

I scream, I might puke or faint, I run frantically looking for help.
I can't handle pain very well so that's what I would do.
but if it's just like a wimpey little cut. I don't know, that might be ok.
I would just grab a band-aid and say oh well.
