The government helps marriages fall apart, poor people have money problems ontop of marriage problems, and the government will only help if your single. I have seen people actually told by the state to seperate or go hungry and without health care. we are talking married people whom have been married over 35 yrs.

A better idea is to give a person a check for every 5 years they are not married. That way only people who really want to get married and have thought it though would do so. The problem isn't people not sticking it out, a check wouldn't keep people together. They are miserable, why try to keep them together that would just be mean. No the better idea is to keep them apart as long as possible. The divorce rate drops quite a bit for people who get married later in life.
Think outside the box...

i think that is the most dumbest idea ever. we will havelosers trying to pretend they are married just to get money. i think if you are married for ten years or more then thats great, why celebrate it with cash!! why would anyone care if families are falling apart. i have been married to my hubby for exactly ten years and i dont feel i need money to feel better about sticking it out with him. thats stupid!!!

Sure as long as YOU issue it - I don't need my tax dollars going for this bullcrap!!
If you think this is the reason our country is falling apart may I remind you of:
Wars
Outsourcing jobs
Less manufacturing done here
The US dollar has gone down in value
The deficit

That would be cool, our first payment would be coming up on August 16, 2007. But as you can see, payment or not, I'm here to be with him for the long haul!

They say money is the root of all evil and you want
it to be involved as an incentive for people to stay
married, nothing else needs to be said.

NO! What an absurd suggestion. Maybe the problem is that you should accept people for who they are instead of trying to MAKE them be who YOU think they should be.
