i thought this would heal on its own, i had no nasal conjestion or was not spitting up phlegm. as the days went by i got worse, i had sore legs and arms, an extremely sore throat and my ears were conjested as i could not hear properly, i went to see the doctor and was told i had a high temp, and my chest sounded very bad, as i was up most night coughing and had no appetite. i was prescribed prednisolone and amoxyllin. alas the aches have gone but my chest still sounds quite bad, i have taken all the steroids and have a few anti biotics left to take, but i have noticed i have developed a bit of a rash on one arm and on the palms of both my hands, could this be to do with the medication or should i seek medical attention?

talk to your doctor and let him know about the rash, if you had a high temp, sore body, chest cogestion, you may have bronchitis along with an infection. you may have pnuemonia or an upper respritory infection. make sure you take all of the antibiotics, if you dont the infection could come back and the antibiotics will have no affect.

This can be a reaction to the medication, some allergic reactions can happen as late as several days of taking the med. It also could be part of a virus that you may have had. In any case if your lungs still are not cleared up you definately need further medical treatment. You may need to be on a different medication or a combination of meds. I am assuming you have listened through a stethoscope to know that they still sound bad. My daughter used to get pneumonia or bronchitis yearly and eventually developed asthma. I used to listen to her lungs throughout the course of the illness. I had brought her back to the doc because I thought the pneumonia had not went away, but when he examined her he said it was asthmatic wheexing instead of the pneumonia. So, if you are listening to your lungs, there may be a difference in sounds that you are not picking up...which just means that maybe you need some asthma type meds. Keep taking your antibiotics, and see what the doc has to say whether you should stop the meds or not. Maybe you need a different antibiotic. I found that Biaxin works very well with bronchitis and pneumonia. Advair or Pulmicort may be helpful for you also. If nothing else you can bring up these with your doc and they can tell you why or why not you should take these.

Anyway, to answer your questions: yes seek medical help; it could have been the flu...often secondary infections such as pneumonia can develop from flu or viral illnesses.

Good Luck!

I don't know, but in the beginning of February (literally, like January 31 or February 1), I took 2 Biotin vitamins (because I want to grow longer hair like Jim Morrison) and I got an allergic reaction which gave me a fever and stomach virus, and then after 1 week, I took 2 more Biotin vitamins (because I thought I just got sick; I didn't know it was an allergic reaction) and I got the same things but they lasted about 2 or 3 weeks. How ironic is that? My birthday is in February and that's the month when I get sick every year. But you should really see a doctor for your condition; it sounds pretty serious.

It could indeed be the medicine. You should tell the doctor in case the rash indicates an allergic reaction.

Feel better soon!
