Can You Overdose on Vitamins?
Too much of a good thing can have unexpected consequences. Just ask people who have gulped gallons of carrot juice, which is rich in beta carotene, only to find that the palms of their hands and the soles of their feet turned a dull yellowy orange.
The carrot-juice syndrome is generally thought to be harmless and reversible, but overdosing on some other vitamins and minerals can have serious side effects.
Vitamin A
Gorging on this vitamin compound in doses of more than 25,000 IUs (five times the RDA) can lead to liver damage, hair loss, blurred vision and headaches.
Bitamin B-6
Ingesting more than 400 mg a day (200 times the RDA) can cause numbness in the mouth and hands and difficulty in walking.
Vitamin C
It was once believed to cause kidney stones, but experts now say there is no solid evidence of dangerous side effects from vitamin C. High doses can produce stomachaches and diarrhea.
Vitamin D
In daily doses of 50,000 IUs (125 times the U.S. RDA), the sunshine vitamin can cause the buildup of calcium deposits that can interfere with the functioning of muscles, including heart tissue. While sunbathing will never create an overdose, taking too many supplements can.
Niacin
Doctors prescribe doses of 2,000 mg (100 times the RDA) to help lower cholesterol. But patients who take that much should be monitored for possible symptoms of jaundice and liver damage.
Iron
Those who want to bolster their red blood cell count, especially elderly people and menstruating women, have been taking iron supplements for years. Daily doses higher than 100 mg (six times the RDA) could interfere with absorption of zinc, a mineral that speeds wound healing and helps regulate the immune system.

The fat-soluble vitamins ( A, E, D, K ) can damage the liver if over-dossed.
The water - soluble vitamins ( B group, and C), the excess, get out of the body via urine.
Key is checking the recommended daily allowance - RDA. Unless you're under the care of a qualified practitioner, and for a certain time you might use high dosages.

Yes! Here's the thing, it's controversial as to what to not over do.
Think about it, these supplements are isolated in a lab or are synthetic. Both are completely UNNATURAL. Now we have all the- yes you need calcium suplements- but it's useless unless you take D suplements etc etc on and on.
We're getting to smart for our own good. The good news is you can get all your nutrients from nature- nature naturally provides the perfect nutrient balance- and you can stop spending $$$ on questionable suplements and stop worrying about whether it's chelated or not.
You can never OD on naturally occuring vitamins!!!
Here's a bonus- What is natures most nutrionally complete food?
Greens baby! Dark leafy greens! Greens are by far the best veggie(although you need a varity of the purples, reds, etc as well) so good and superior to other vegatables they should have there own name.
So you don't like greens? Make a smoothie with sweet fruit and greens (use a blender) experment. Eventually you'll learn to crave green.

They are better as a back up in case you can not get good food in the arranged diet for your planned programs. Taking more then the prescribed amount, like: Three or more every meal isn't going to make much difference because our body just throws out the excess with the water.

Most likely any extra that your body doesn't need will be in your urine. Otherwise, you would probably vomit right away and then you'd know for sure. But, don't take more than the recommended dosage listed unless you're under a physician's supervision, you don't know what if any reaction you can have if you're taking any other meds as well.

There are definitely certain vitamins on which you can overdose. Call your local GNC or other health food store and ask which ones.
