It depends on the vehicle. If your vehicle is older, then it will have a trim ring with 4 screws on the out side take them out remove the trim ring and pull out the head light. Then unplug the wire and plug it into the new head light and place it back in the reverse order.
If you have a newer car then you headlight uses a bulb. Many times they are not fun to replace and you will have to jamb your hand in some tight spaces. Many a time almost mangling a finger off. If you are really unlucky you will have to bring it to the dealer and have them replace it for a small fortune. I.E. VW Bug you have to take the bumper off L First unplug the bulb it will be the only thing sticking out from the back of the headlight. There will be a ring around the light firmly grasping it and turn it most are counter clock wise. Don’t worry you will be able to tell if you are going the wrong way it wont move at all. Continue turning till it stops then grasp the part that the plug attached to and wiggle it. It will now pop out. Pay attention to how the lock ring fits over the bulb. Look at the old bulb you will see some tabs. Those tabs only allow the bulb to go in only one way. Take the new bulb out of its package only touch the plastic base do not touch the bulb. The oil on your finger will shorten the life of the bulb. We all know you don’t want to have to do this again any time soon! If you do touch it wipe it clean with a paper towel and some alcohol. Place the bulb into the hole wiggle it a bit till you feel it slide all the way in. Now place the lock ring over it and turn it the apposing way and plug in the connector. Make sure to then test the light by turning on the headlights to make sure it works the connector isn’t lose that kind of thing. If you are lucky you didn’t get cut on sharp plastic that the manufacture placed there to cut you in the first place and make you mad ;)

This is how to change the bulb?!

1. Raise the hood.

2. Locate the rear of the headlight assembly.

3. There is a black twist lock collar around the bulb. Twist to the left(hopefully you have slender arms)

4. Take the bulb to your local parts store

5. Replace the bulb in reverse order. DO NOT touch the glass surface of the bulb.

It varies greatly from car to car. Some it's as easy as unscrewing some bolts and replacing the bulb, others you have to take off the whole bumper.

It is best done by taking your vehicle to the garage for i think taking out the bulb is simple but assembling the thing back is difficult for the novice.

Either give it to a mechanic, or learn from him properly. Else you may go wrong.
