We have a Bissell carpet shampooer. With a dog and grand kids in the house, it can be a life saver. Works great. I just wish I had gotten one that has the water heater built in because the water cools before we can use it all. They are very handy and we use it all the time.

We even clean our own carpet on occasion, too. lol

whirlpool, and other whirlpool products. i am currently a service technician and i service appliances, i found that whirlpool products are the easiest first of all to work on, second of all the parts that go if at all are usually fairly cheap, and continue many years working after a problem is fixed. not only are they good in quality, they are fairly inexpensive on the market. if your looking into higher end brands, fisher and paykel make very efficient dishwashers, and bosch as well makes a nice brand of appliances. stay away from brands like dacor and thermador mainly cause if a part goes it is impossible and will take weeks to get a part. hope this helps.

The Edenpure portable heaters - in the dead of winter these little heaters heat areas of the house that your heating system won't heat normally or sufficiently. l bought one two years ago, and another one last year because it was such a hit with the wife and kids - it is completely safe to get next to unlike some other porable heaters.

It is supposed to also reduce your heating bill, but don't forget your electrical bill will go up somewhat...

Since it is the off-season, now would probably be the time to search for these on the web.
