i have a compaq presiario v5000 and a tv with only the red, yello and white ports. i also have a satellite connection. what do in need

Your laptop has a s-video jack. Your TV has RCA jacks. They are not compatable. So you will need a cable that will connect the two.

you can buy an s-video cable but it only shows video then you will need an adapter thats a s-video slot it should have the color plug ins then go to your desk top right click, click properties, click settins tab, click the second box with the 2, then click the check box that says Extend my Windows desktop onto this monitor, click apply, move the application all the way off to the right untill it is off screen, then look at your tv screen and it should be on channel 3 or 4

Firstly, your TV needs to have a VGA port. Secondly, you'll need a female-female VGA cable. You can find the latter at Radio Shack, Best Buy, etc. However, if your TV does NOT have a VGA port, you're a bit out of luck.

well you can get a plug that converts s-video to a yello plug, so you can hae the video working on your tv and as for the sound. there is a plug that goes from a normal headphone jack to a white and red plug if you live in Australia can i suggest you go to dick smith

You Need a Wire that Will Take Your Video out on your card either S-Video (round black input ) or regular video out (yellow Video Slot) then plug that to your tv then...you need to get a wire that converts regular pc audio out (green) and turns it into red white audio jacks
so basicly just 2 wires depending on your video card

You just need a cable. One end goes into your TV, the other into your video card. You've probably done something similar when you connected your computer monitor. Check the back - you should see a cable!

S-Video out cables are pretty standard. Look for that on your laptop and see if your tv has input for it. If your computer is pretty new, it should have come with one.
