Mostly because of the markets that they sell into. Audi is owned by VW and does not produce a comprehensive line of cars aimed to compete in all product catagories. VW is most likely developing something, though it will most likely not be marketed as an Audi until there is enough demand for luxury and GT Sport Coupes powered by such. At present VW does offer diesels though.
Similarly, Porsche is a small independent company that produces high performance vehicles. While most Porsches are actually low emissions vehicles, until there aresome advances in performance in alternative fuel vehicles you will not see them investing in developing such (and as a small company, they cannot afford to do this until it's viable to develop a product that people will want to buy).
BMW is also an independent company, though the largest of the wholely indenpendant car makers. They were among the first to work on hydrogen powered cars and continue to invest in this area. However, as an independent company, they will most likely not move to license technology from another company in order to simply offer an alternative fuel vehicle. That may change is their direct competitors produce such cars before the hydrogen research delivers a viable option. At present they do offer diesel powered cars in some markets.
Daimler Chrysler produce many diesel powered vehicles, and they have been active in developing alternate fuel vehicles, though nothing appears near market at this time. Unlike the previous companies, Daimler does represent a large company with offerings in many vehicle cataogires. Aside from their own sales channels, Daimler has licensed the Smart chasis for sale with an electric engine in some markets as well. Though with recent cut backs the future of the Smart brand is at least somewhat in question.

The Tesla is an celebration of a severe performance electric powered events vehicle. regrettably it really is not competative. It value about $100,000, that's $30,000 more effective than gas powered events autos that out carry out it. It takes 8 hours to recharge, at the same time as a Corvette Z06 will be refuelled in about 5 minutes. For the $30,000 distinction you ought to purchase 10,000 gallons of gas at cutting-edge prices. this may power the Z06 for no less than 1 hundred fifty,000 miles. Given all of this, the alternative is apparent, i will purchase the Corvette.

Mainly because they wouldn't sell. If you can afford a luxury car, you can also afford fuel.
