pinworm primer for parents - includes related article on herbal remedies
Many of the herbs listed as anthelmintics--notably, aloes, pinkroot, rue, tansy, thyme, and wormseed --are considered drastically purgative, if not mildly to fatally poisonous. Often they are to be taken with a laxative herb on an empty stomach. Sometimes enemas are included as part of the treatment. One physician, writing before the advent of modern worm therapy, has suggested that enemas of tepid water administered every other day for six weeks can occasionally cure pinworms.[21] If you are not pregnant or lactating, and believe you are ready for an overdue cleanse, these therapies may be appropriate for you--but please spare your child. Fasting, laxatives, enemas, and strong bitter herbs are not advisable for children. If you wish to pursue a natural cure for worms, consult a suitable practitioner, or stick to the more benign herbs [see "Safe and Effective Herbal Remedies"].
Whether you use Vermox or mugwort, Antiminth or garlic, you will probably kill or expel most if not all of the adult worms and many of the eggs. Even if you use nothing, the worms, due to their relatively short life cycle, will die within six to eight weeks. Yet, your family may still show signs of infection. Why? Because contagious eggs that have left the body have embarked on an infestation of their own.

Reinfection is a common phenomenon, and the surest way to stop it is through careful hygiene. Preventive measures include the following:
Establish house rules for personal cleanliness. Insist that all family members wash their hands in hot, soapy water before eating and after using the toilet. Keep fingernails short and clean. Wash your child's perianal area in the morning before dressing, or encourage a daily morning shower--a rule to be observed throughout the treatment period and for several weeks afterward.
Do the laundry. Change your family's sheets, pajamas, underwear, towels, and washcloths daily, both during treatment and for several weeks afterward. Wash all items in hot, soapy water, and line-dry them in the sun or put them in a hot dryer. Heat and dryness kill the eggs.
Clean the house. Wash toilet seats daily with hot, soapy water. Vacuum or damp mop frequently--especially all bedroom and bathroom floors. Avoid dry sweeping and shaking out the bedding, as these practices will only stir up dust.
Tend to the source. Have your child wear tight-fitting underpants to bed during treatment and for several nights afterward. This will keep any wandering worms from contaminating the bedclothes. Apply zinc oxide or a soothing herbal salve to the anus at night to discourage the worms from laying their eggs, to help prevent the spread of eggs, and to relieve the itching.
Invigorate your sense of humor. With a lot of little hands to keep clean and bundles of sheets to wash, why not indulge in a lighthearted approach? Above all, try not to share your pinworm neurosis with your children. If you are matter-of-fact about the infestation, they will be too.

I'd like to know how you know you have pin worms? If you haven't been to a doctor, how on Earth do you know what it is? It takes stool samples for testing to determine if pin worms are present. So you already went to the doctor, had stool samples tested by a lab and know you have pin worms?
There are so many intestinal parasite that can make you sick, and they're not treated the same. You should borrow money from a friend/family member and go to the doctor. This is not something you should mess with, go to the doctor already.
Yeah, and that idea about keeping your worms is just stupid. You are sick and you ARE contagious, so it's not just about YOU when there is a very contagious illness that you're going to be sharing with everyone that crosses your path. Before you cause a nasty outbreak in your home, office, and comminuty take yourself to the doctor.
