How about Worlds Greatest Teams in which, let's say, major league baseball players would compete against pro football players in a game of ice hockey. For just one example.

It's an interesting idea, but sadly impractical in this day and age. The teams would never let all of their athletes take part in such a competition for fear of injury.
You might be talking about "Superstars," in which athletes from a variety of sports took part in a decathlon-type of event on ABC in the 70's. Joe Frazier almost drowned in the pool. The guys who needed the money took it seriously; I think soccer's Kyle Rote Jr. won once or twice.

No, I do not remember the show...sorry. I think that a lot of people would watch a show which included sports of all kinds...as long as the competetor was out of his/her element! This would fit in with all the reality shows which are so popular at this time! An example: Dancing With the Stars....Emmitt Smith was certainly out of his element but, as a competitor...he WON!! Just a thought!

Football players, especially LBs, RBs, CBs, TEs & WRs would dominate.
