We voted against smoking in public places (wales) and have voted for other things, but i was wondering is there any such thing as a vote to ban or keep abortions?

(by the way If there is, i would vote for abortion)

nope and quite right too, freedom of choice is a right in the UK along with speech and expression. and no one has the right to take that away politically or legally. a woman's body is her own and she should be able to choose what happens to it.

There was a vote in the House of Commons earlier this year to try and reduce the time limit. Thankfully it was soundly defeated.

All MPs regardless of their party allegiance are given a free vote on the abortion issue.

That's just not going to happen in Britain. There are plenty of people who support a woman's right to choose - all three major political parties support it, even amongst hardline conservatives you'd be hard-pushed to find someone against it.

Only if the unthinkable happened and the BNP came into power would this be an issue - but then it certainly wouldn't be the major one at the time.

I think there should, but it is confromed into a political platform for Republicans. How many times have you heard in an election that so and so is against abortion? Thousands of times, but what has been done in the past 35 years? NOTHING! It is mute point....

No.

The Supreme Court said that women have a right to an abortion and we do not vote on rights.

I wouldnt, but thats my choice, and I smoke, how dare you tread on my rights, but get angry when I tell you I would vote against abortion(isnt it calling the kettle black),but to answer your question,an overturn on the abortion issue would only come fron the judges in office(supreme court)(USA)

They are doing that here in America to. There is a smoking ban. I say abortion is murder, reather someone was raped, forgot to where a condom, or is just a ****, that does not give you the right to take a life.

I doubt it. But I ask you this. What about my choice as a man? It takes two to tango and if the women falls pregant I'm pretty sure a man will be involved along the line. And what if I want to have that child? What gives you the right to deny me that? Its another case of double standards when 'equal rights' are bent in favour of women.

It doesn't look like there will in the future. Rudy supports abortion and it appears that he's going to be the republican candidate.
