-Try thrift stores and flee markets. You'll be surprised at what treasures you find! Just make sure to check carefully for holes and stains when buying secondhand clothing.

-Don't buy things on a whim. Always try things on and think about whether you really need the item. Ask yourself where you would wear it before making a purchase. Leave the store and continue shopping - if you still want the item later when you are ready to leave, you can go back and get it.

-Compare prices. The Internet is a great tool when it comes to fashion. If you have an item in mind, look at some of your favorite stores' websites to see where you could find the best deal. Checking websites periodically also alerts you of upcoming sales events.

-Have a clothes-swapping party with your girlfriends. Invite all your girlfriends over and ask them each to bring several articles of clothing that they no longer want. This does not mean old ratty t-shirts. They should be items that are still in good condition and fashionable. Maybe your friend lost a few pounds and those designer jeans she bought a few months ago no longer fit. Or maybe she made a impulse decision at the store and bought something that really wasn't her style, but might be yours! Come up with a fun game to decide who gets first pick so as not to cause a tug-of-war. Make it a fun night - pick up some wine and snacks and pamper each other with facials and manicures.

-Splurge a little on high quality classic pieces which will become the staples of your wardrobe. These pieces will not go out of style in a year and will last a long time. Don't spend too much on crazy pieces that you more than likely will only wear once, unless its for a very special occasion.

-Take your old clothes that you no longer wear to a consignment shop or have a yard sale. Let yourself spend any money you earn towards a new wardrobe without feeling guilty.

-Ebay, ebay, ebay. Not only can you sell your old clothes on ebay for quick, easy money, but you can also find some great deals. Designer labels at huge discounts and new or like new clothing for much less than you'd pay retail.

-Accessories are a great way to expand your wardrobe. Different accessories can completely transform an outfit and can make simple ensembles fun and stylish.

-Look through fashion/style magazines for hot trends. Cut out pictures of the styles that you like best and take them with you when you go shopping. Oftentimes you can put together a very similar look for a fraction of the price.

-If you're feeling really creative, try making your own clothes. Make patterns using clothes you already own as templates. This of course would require some sewing skills, but the results can be beautiful and unique.

-Don’t skimp on standards like jeans, black trousers, and good shoes. A crisp white cotton blouse is another great investment. When fit and style is of the utmost importance, a cheap imitation just won’t do. Consider these basics the building blocks of your wardrobe and buy the best your budget will allow. Then when you do find cute, trendy clothes at rock bottom prices, you’ll already have the pieces to go along with them.

-You can’t buy the latest trends if you don’t know what they are. Be in touch with what’s hot in fashion right now and can spot a hot trend a mile away. Subscribe to fashion mags like Vogue, Elle, and Bazaar to get the scoop on what designers are touting this season. Visit Best Deal Magazines to subscribe for less.

-By waiting a few months to pick up the latest fashions, you’ll get a bigger bang for your buck. For example, fall clothes typically hit the racks in July and start getting marked down in September. Who needs a sweater in July anyway? If you wait until October or November to buy (when you actually NEED the item) you can save up to 75%.

-Because stores like Target and Old Navy are constantly getting in new merchandise, they need to clear out their older styles on a regular basis. You’ll almost always find a great selection of markdowns on their clearance racks. Consignment stores can be a source for high-quality basics like trousers, blouses, and basic sweaters. Avoid anything trendy at consignment stores since they almost exclusively carry goods from seasons past.

-Don’t forget to check out online stores for great deals. Scroll down to see a listing of our favorites. Be wary of shipping costs, which can offset the money you’re actually saving. eBay can be a hidden source of clothing bargains as well. Overstock has also added an auctions to their site which shows the potential for another great bargain-hunting resource. Search by your size and favorite brand names. Update with Accessories Belts, earrings, necklaces, and scarves are an inexpensive way to breathe new life into your old wardrobe. Look for cute styles at H&M, Target, Lerner NY, and Express.

*Go to resale/secondhand shops, but go often. Good things will go quickly.

*Neutral colors can be mixed and matched better than really colorful things. (black, white, brown, tan)

*Get things that are versatile and you can use more than one way. Example: Don't spend a ton of money on a dress when you could maybe buy a couple tops & a couple skirts. By mixing/alternating the tops & skirts, you can give the illusion of several completely different outfits, and STILL be able to wear the top with jeans, or dress it up with a cheap cute jacket.

*If your money is limited, don't waste it on trendy clothes just because it's what everyone else is wearing. Buy clothes that YOU like and that compliment your figure. You'll feel more comfortable in these clothes and probably get more use out of them.

*Watch sales ads and buy ONLY things on sale or better yet on clearance. The end of the season is good for this. I just bought my son a $40 winter coat for next year that was marked down to $8. Shop smart!

well instead of COMPLETELY throwing out your current wardrobe, and buying everything new, i would take a list and say, ok i need 2 new pairs of jeans, i look for those this week. and do that, then when you can afford to go get the next thing like 4 new t shirts go look for that iin that week. or if you want just go to the mall once a month for a day, and just look for a few things you really like, its ok if you dont find anything in one trip. just get the things you know will never sit at the back of your closet. also you can get reasonably priced things at macys, target, khols, forever 21, american eagle has somme stuf, same with aberocmbie (if its on sale), nordstrom. good luck!

I think that you should buy nice sweaters, a nice winter jacker, jeans, a few pairs of shoes, and two belts. They will last you a very very very long time. Underwear, shirts, and other things are fine to buy from any brand at any price. You don't need $250 boxers, hehe.(: You're a guy, so you don't need to go overboard with clothing, but buy what you need. You don't need more than four pairs of shoes(in my mind). But you will need a decent amount of shirts, pants, sweaters, and underwear. Goodluck :D Hope I helped.

go to the stores u like & check the sales/clearance areas...check around at consignment/thrift shops...u are going to laugh, but go to yard/garage sales in the swanky neighborhoods in your area, because many times u can find designer clothes that are practically brand new for a steal!!!

resale shops are real good. Some have high quality clothes at low prices some even have the tags still on them.

For starters, try shopping STRICTLY in the sale/clearance sections of your favorite store! If that doesn't work for you, try discount clothing stores i.e. TJ MAXX, Marshalls, and Ross.

If you go on eBay, you can type specifically name-brands. Also, you can narrow down your results by asking for new items on the left panel. HAPPY SHOPPING!!
