According to MediaMatters.com, which posted a transcript and a video on its site, the "Imus in the Morning" conversation went this way:

IMUS: So, I watched the basketball game last night between -- a little bit of Rutgers and Tennessee, the women's final.

ROSENBERG: Yeah, Tennessee won last night -- seventh championship for [Tennessee coach] Pat Summitt, I-Man. They beat Rutgers by 13 points.

IMUS: That's some rough girls from Rutgers. Man, they got tattoos and --

McGUIRK: Some hard-core hos.

IMUS: That's some nappy-headed hos there. I'm gonna tell you that now, man, that's some -- woo. And the girls from Tennessee, they all look cute, you know, so, like -- kinda like -- I don't know.

McGUIRK: A Spike Lee thing.

IMUS: Yeah.

McGUIRK: The Jigaboos vs. the Wannabes -- that movie that he had.

IMUS: Yeah, it was a tough --

McCORD: "Do The Right Thing."

McGUIRK: Yeah, yeah, yeah.

IMUS: I don't know if I'd have wanted to beat Rutgers or not, but they did, right?

ROSENBERG: It was a tough watch. The more I look at Rutgers, they look exactly like the Toronto Raptors.

IMUS: Well, I guess, yeah.

RUFFINO: Only tougher.

McGUIRK: The [Memphis] Grizzlies would be more appropriate.

Patrice O'neil boiled it down the terrific the different night on Hannity: "White human beings must be waiting to declare even in the event that they desire in the context of comedy so i will say even if i desire in the context of comedy." that's precisely what the context of the comments that Imus made. in case you pay attention to the communication the comments the place made in you are able to tell what the context is. He tried to make a shaggy dog tale and it bombed horribly. And if every person become so offended by ability of his comments why did no longer each and all of the coverage start up on Wednesday? Why did a bulk of the information coverage of this finished subject start up over the weekend? Imus has been doing/asserting stuff like this for over 40 years (besides as different marvel jocks). Imus has already apoligized for what he pronounced, eventhough he would have merely as extremely stood as much as the solid Rev. Al and informed him to shove it like Howard Stern and Opie and Anthony have the two pronounced. yet he didnt, he went on Rev. Al's radio teach and took his beating. Jason Whitlock wrote a piece of writing that rather pronounced that Sharpton and Jackson ought to get rid of the self hate in the black community until eventually now they pass and attack people who "offend" the black community. And he's acceptable. in case you want to study the object, pop Jason Whitlock right into a google information seek. between the concepts this united states of america become in keeping with become unfastened speech, even if if that speech is offensive he has a suitable to declare it.

Why concern yourself with EXACTLY what Imus said: why not focus on the bigger picture? Don Imus is a multi-million-dollar radio personality who is paid those big bucks for being raucous and raunchy.
Howard Stern has earned $83 million in stock options (on top of a multi-million-dollar salary) for demeaning women, talking filth, and bringing sensationalism to radio that stuns his listeners and only serves to de-humanize them as moral, decent inhabitants of this Earth.
Rush Limbaugh earns millions by shouting hatred over the air waves, criticizing (with little actuality) liberals, "wacko women libbers", and anyone else that doesn't fit his own profile of what an American citizen should be. He defiles, enrages, spews political bias in the very same way Hitler's propagandists demeaned the Jews and others who were considered "undesirable".
The Fox "News" network is nothing more than a political pr arm of the Republican Party, offering nothing near the "balanced" reporting it claims to deliver.
Magazines such as "Star", "People" and "InTouch" glamorize the immoral and idiotic behavior of ultra-wealthy movie stars, causing millions of young readers to emulate these disgusting cretins.
For centuries, men have been violating, degrading, and abusing woman, using them as nothing more than sex objects (or worse). Rape, sexual assault, 'date rape', verbal and physical attacks, emotional exploitation and browbeating women into submission in their "macho" world is nothing new - it's just much more pronounced, accepted, and tolerated today.
So the big news isn't what Imus said. It's what the American media and entertainment industries have done to poison our society toward women - and, in the process, have also (unfortunately) debased men. There's only one way to cease this incessant barrage of sewage, filth and sensationalism: DON'T LISTEN TO IT. BOYCOTT IT. DON'T BUY IT. But our society has probably sunk too low to raise itself up to any level of respectability and human decency. -RKO- 04/10/07

well, the "hoe" part isn't racist- as I'm pretty sure that women of all races are well represented in the profession.

Is the "nappy headed" racist?

Certainly it was derogatory towards the Rutgers' team- but it doesn't seem particularly racist. Or- would I feel very differently if I were black. (I do have curly hair...)

It's more sexist than racist; I'm nappy headed and my skin is white. I think he hates women - - can't get it up probably. Stupid idiot.
